CLINTON — A Clinton man was arrested Tuesday in the shooting of a Sampson County jail employee on her lunch break, according to a news release from the county's Sheriff's Office.
Jahleek Joyner, of 93 Water House Circle, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by felon in the shooting of Zarya Ashley, 21, a detention officer with the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, the release said.
Deputies were called to Joyner's home at 1 p.m. where they found Ashley laying critically injured on the ground outside the home with an apparent gunshot wound, the release said.
