confirmation that israel has actually got the hostages yet, but the choreography well under way. let us talk to our correspondent there. we just heard helicopters flying near the air base, we are not sure if they are the ones who are going to take the hostages back to israel, but there is a great sense of anticipation here in this air base, we have been waiting for any news about the hostages coming, it was believed before that they were coming by helicopter, through the rafah crossing, and then we were told they were coming by bus from border crossing, between israel and gaza. once they arrive here, they will be looked after being a huge operation that was organised by the israeli army, they said they have made everything possible to make this first delivery, or this first batch of hostages, the delivery, to go as good as possible, because there is a great pressure within israel, the families have been desperate to see any, to hear any good news about their loved ones, and also there is a mounting pressure about the release of the hostages here, so we are still waiting, and we know that they will be departing from this air base to israel by helicopter this is what we have been told by the israeli army, so far, but things can change, obviously, you know, we are still waiting for any new development regarding their rival here. we know that to get to this deal it was political side or another, that is done, that is not the story here, you can see people praying behind me. it is not something you seed in tel aviv every friday evening. this is a very special occasion for israel and this is a very special place to be in, that ourfamilies the is a very special place to be in, that our families the here, who/there are families here who, i don't want to say celebrate, gather to be together, there is a table right there, with 240 seat, symbolising the 240 hostages that were kidnapped to gaza. until we see all 240 seats with the hostages in them, sitting in them, with us, we are pot going to stop. this is what we are signing here, this is going to be long, we understand it but this is onlyjust the beginning. gil, when we get that news and it could be any time, let us talk again, because i really, just seeing that anticipation, you know, and this means so much to you, so let us wait and let us watch, and let us speak again. i want to talk to our correspondent tom bateman, tom, we have talked so much and i mean i think the way listening and to gil there and look at him and what this means to so many families, tom, talk us through why it is not as simple as being able to say yes they are in the hands of the israeli authority, why is there this period of time where nobody knows what is going on? there is an intermediary involves, it involves the red cross which has been involved in receiving the hostages and bringing them to the rafah crossing into egypt, then we would expect to the israeli side, as with the negotiation itself, there has been a lot of moving parts and thatis has been a lot of moving parts and that is why there is a lack of clarity about exactly what is happening, moment from moment, although viewers want to get a real sense from each minute but we are trying to get the information to some extent from what is reported by the various parties in all of this, there is an operations room, also thatis there is an operations room, also that is in doha, there is communicating with the red cross, thatis communicating with the red cross, that is supposed to be about deconflicting to make sure, one of the things that qataris were emphatic about is all of this happens in a safe gone, in a safe environment. they said they wanted to protect that most. our understanding from one source close to the negotiations, is that the 13 hostages and some of the thai national halles have been handed over to the egyptian side on rafah, thatis over to the egyptian side on rafah, that is what we have been told that the hostages have crossed, the rafah crossing, that is also coming from egyptian sources as well but i stress there is no confirmation of that, we haven't heard that confirmed from the israeli side. what we expect to happen is they will be transported from the egyptian side of the rafah crossing, possibly by road, we don't know, possibly by road, we don't know, possibly by road, we don't know, possibly by helicopter, and they will then arrive in southern israel, and that is key point. when they goat that israeli air base, then you have basically confirmation verification that that part of the deal has been honoured. once they have been be received into israel, as far as the agreement is concerned thatis as far as the agreement is concerned that is the important moment. what that is the important moment. what that triggers within a two hour window is the release by israel of those 39 palestinianers, who are on a list of 300 eligible for release. we know they are in the ofer prison, so they should be released and that is part of this rolling process to keep this agreement going, and you then get another 24 hours of ceasefire. that is the idea and more hostages should be released again tomorrow. this hostages should be released again tomorrow. * . hostages should be released again tomorrow. * , ., ~ hostages should be released again tomorrow. * , . ~ ., tomorrow. as we talk there we are continuin: tomorrow. as we talk there we are continuing to _ tomorrow. as we talk there we are continuing to see _ tomorrow. as we talk there we are continuing to see these _ tomorrow. as we talk there we are continuing to see these pictures i continuing to see these pictures from the rafah crossing, we were also reflecting on the fact that as you know well, not far from also reflecting on the fact that as you know well, not farfrom me in tel aviv is the place where binyamin netanyahu, yoav galant the israeli defence minister are watching and waiting. we saw benny gantz from the unity government who joined after october 7th, unity government who joined after october7th, doing unity government who joined after october 7th, doing a walk about this in square, politically, what are israel sort of hoping to gain from this, apart, aside from that key return home of those hostages? there has alwa s return home of those hostages? there has always peps _ return home of those hostages? there has always peps this _ return home of those hostages? ii—iiff has always peps this tension around the fundamental need to get hostages released. 240 of them and the political abasis of that given at the start of this, there was huge political pressure on the state of israel, on the government, over what was seen by the israeli public as a catastrophic security failure, perhaps, definitely the worst in a generation, perhaps the most significant since the foundation of the state in some way, so that pressure has been absolutely immense, and then at the same time, you have the stated objective of israel's military campaign, to destroy and ehim foment hamas, not just as a military force, but as a government nan force in gaza, that is a very very big and complicated objective, so you always had this tension round, what was the major, what was the biggest priority? was it to get the hostages released or that military objective? and i think we have seen that play out in some ways, in some of the families protesting throughout this pressure on net, who said his first goal was the elimination of hamas, at one stage she described the release of the hostages as the second goal, of all of this. and that has created problem, you have seen a lot of protests by some of the families, it is clear from the opinion polling, that the biggest proportion of israelis believe the very first objective has to be the release of the hostage, all the hostage, there are 240 including women and children and the elderly. elderly as we know. so the question becomes, what happens at the end of this temporary ceasefire period? we have heard yoav galant repeat today, that they say the military campaign will return in full force, that it will intensify, they are trying to give that message particularly to the right of benjamin netanyahu, in the coalition, and their supporters, this isn't in a sense a form of stopping the conflict, that it will continue. yet at the same time you have numerous rab country, humanitarian aid group, parts of the un saying this want to turn into a much longer and dewarable ceasefire. —— arab countries. —— dewarable. tom bateman live in jerusalem. one extra line to bring you, a senior hamas official has just told the bbc that in their words, the first part of the exchange is complete, of the 13 hostage, the 12 thai nationals who we found out in the last hour or so have also been released as parts of the deal, the military wing said the thai workers were not part of the deal but they were release a a good will gesture, so a senior hamas official telling the bbc the first part of the exchange is complete. so we continue to white here, to sort of, you know, really gauge the atmosphere, the anticipation, the nerves many cases as people wait for that official confirmation from the israeli government, that these 13 hostages that have being released. the first 13 as part of that larger group of 50 will be back in the hands of the israeli authorities once again. anna, thank you for taking us through that, we will be back to you in a moment. we were scheduled to hearfrom the prime in a moment. we were scheduled to hear from the prime minister's spokesman about 15 minutes ago, so you can see all the elements coming together, but bit by bit, this is coming to us in stages. i want to show you some of the pictures coming into the bbc at the moment. this is the rafah crossing. we have seen some of those aid trucks start to actually go through and we will talk to oxfam here ho on the programme in a moment, so we have our eyes on the rafah crossing point, let me show you the pictures from israel and the ofer prison, late, there it is, the camera is focussed on there, because later as part of this hostage deal, palestinian prisoners will also be released later in the afternoon, we think, in about two, two—and—a—half hours, but 39 palestinians due to be released as part of the deal, so the cameras focussed on that prison as well. so, let us speak to our security correspondent frank gardner, he is watching this, he is here with me and frank, after seven weeks of this war, just, assess the moment that today this reshrills, this moment we have reached it is a hu:el this moment we have reached it is a hugely significant — this moment we have reached it is a hugely significant moment - and it has been achieved against the odds, all credit to qatar, but they have had help from egypt who helped secure the release of 13 thai nationals and from the united states us, the head of the cia has been personally involved in the hostage negotiation talks, david barnier, the head of mossad, but it is the qataris who very early on in this crisis almost within hours of all these civilians being taken and military being taken hostage and brought into gaza, qatar offered its services and they are a strange paradox, that are a western ally with a massive air base used by the us and others buzz they host hamas, the political leadership of hamas, the political leadership of hamas, an organisation that is a proscribed terrorist organisation in many western countries and they offered that, and initially it wasn't taken up by israel. be we a bit of pushing from the american, particularly antony blinken, negotiations started but it was a stop—start negotiations started but it was a stop—sta rt process negotiations started but it was a stop—start process with a lot of hitches on the way and a number of reports have been emerged, in the last few day, that binyamin netanyahu didn't initially want to accept some of the terms, but was nudged by the americans, and president biden has been also personally involved in phoning leaders in the region, to persuade, tojust get this leaders in the region, to persuade, to just get this deal over the line, and i have to say, that even as recently as yesterday, there were some worrying signs, reports coming out of israel, that hamas was adding extra condition, the fundamental problem at the end was israel's list of the hostages it expected to be coming out didn't match hamas's list. they didn't have a close grip on exactly who they had, and where they were being held but they do now, they have a better idea of it. just to put this in perspective, if this deal go us without a hitch, by the end of monday, where will we be? 50 israeli hostages and dual nationals will have got out of gaza, 150 palestinian women and children will have been released but that still leaves 80% of the hostages held in gaza, some of them by another group, so the tough par gaining remains. this another group, so the tough par gaining remains.— another group, so the tough par gaining remains. as part of the deal we already know _ gaining they can never be threatened bit and hamas has made it clear they will do another october 7th if they can. they have said their finger is on the trigger, as part of the deal, for every ten hostage, ten additional hostages that hamas releases, after monday, israel will pause for another day, before resuming the fighting, but when they do resume it, the signs are it is going to be pretty bloody, they said lit intensify and they will be hitting the south. now that is where the greatest concentration of refugees are, i say refugee, tory displaced persons who have moved from the north because they don't have the same world view or ideology as the secular egyptian government. there are a lot of thai workers working in the agricultural areas of israel, thatis the agricultural areas of israel, that is how they got taken hostage. i am going to go back to tel aviv and straight back to anna foster, who has more for us from there. over to you anna. matthew, a source has told the bbc, we have been waiting for this, this key moment, this crucial moment when the hostages are back in the hands of the israelis, out of gaza, and in, in, idon't of the israelis, out of gaza, and in, in, i don't want to say custody, thatis in, in, i don't want to say custody, that is not the right word, until they have been officially handed back and israel knows they are well, and they are safe, now, a source has told the bbc that the israeli hostages are now on the egyptian side. about to cross into israel, within minutes. israel has verified the list of hostages who has been released, because that list was provided by hamas and as part of that process of hand over, they needed to make sure that those names on the list, and the hostages who were given over, handed to the red cross, were the same people, so we knew there was going to be that process of a verification, where the hostages were checked against their names, their identities were confirmed. now a source has told the bbc that that list of hostages has been verified by israel, that the israeli hostages are on the egyptian side, and they are able to cross into israel, we are told, within minutes, that is the latest, we still wait for that sort official moment, that confirmation but each one of the steps, each one of those momentses brings us closer to the first stage of that large—scale hostage release, 13 out of 50 who we expect to be released over the next four days or so, and the families it is worth says of the hostages who got the calls from israeli officials to say yes your loved ones your family members are on the first list of 13. they are waiting at hospitals in israel, where they will be reunited with their loved ones when they are flown there to be medically checked and that is where the reunions will take place. anna, publicly, we still don't know who was on that list, and who was not. the families themselves know, but publicly, we don't. that not. the families themselves know, but publicly, we don't.— but publicly, we don't. that is absolutely — but publicly, we don't. that is absolutely right _ but publicly, we don't. that is absolutely right matthew, i but publicly, we don't. that is absolutely right matthew, in i but publicly, we don't. that is i absolutely right matthew, in fact the israeli government were very clear on that point, they said they did not want the identities of those hostages to be released publicly, until those individuals were back safe with israeli officials, they were clear about that point. what we did start to find out yesterday, was the identity of some of the hostages who were not on the list. we know for sure already, that no men are being released as part of this deal. we know it is only women and children, and we started to hear some of those families, who were announcing publicly they had not received that call and their loved ones were not on the list for today. this is due to happen for the next four days, but it must be enormously hard for those families to know that the process has begun, you would want to see your family members, on day one, you would want them to be part of that first group. for the families of 13 hostage —— hostages that will be the case. it will follow the same process as today i imagine. there will be another list provided by hamas to israel, and we will see a repetition of what we saw yesterday, which is israeli officials contacting that next group officials contacting that next group of families, letting them know their loved ones are on the list for tomorrow. and the plan is this will continue for the next four days and there will be a point no doubt which we do find out the identities of those hostages who have been released. it's worth saying, here in israel but round the world as well. the names and faces of some of the hostages are very well—known now, some of the family members who have spoken publicly to let the world know about the ordeal they have been through and i think keep the profile of the hostages high, so we will find out those names, we will match some of them to names, presumably in the next few hours, once they have been handed over, but it isjust that moment, right now, where each of these little incremental steps you were talking about, israel, checking the list, verifying the list, knowing they are getting closer and closer, all of these things are vital tiny steps towards that moment, that people notjust here in tel aviv but people across israel, are waiting for. that part of the deal, the ceasefire, the humanitarian aid, there will be the prisoner release but what people here are waiting for matthew, is the confirmation that those 13 hostages have been safely received, by the israeli authorities. yes, and until that moment comes, it explains why it is still rather subdued. it was so interesting listening to a family member saying they were trying to keep a lid on they were trying to keep a lid on the excitement while they wait. thank you anna. worth repeating what anna said, israeli hostages telling her to cross into israel. so another step closer, these are the live pictures from israel of the hospital that ultimately those hostages will be taken to, to make a medical assessment, and of course, earlier in the day, the israeli authorities were just distributing and publicising some of the pictures internally of the rooms already prepared for especially for children, because of course so much in terms of psychological acements —— assessment to be made of those children, what they witnessed in the kibbutz when they were taken by hamas, some of them witnessing the murder of family members, then to be held for seven weeks, somewhere in gaza, now they are merging so as well as their physical health, a lot of psychological work to do with all of psychological work to do with all of those people who come out. let me just to tell you about the other elements of today's deal. as we watch the hostages and bit by bit eight getting closer. for the last 10.5 hours, we have had a pause in the fighting as part of the negotiated deal. as a result, we have seen ade begin to go into gaza in greater numbers. let's speak to oxfam's policy director. bushra khalidi is in ramallah. so many details of the hostage release coming as we speak. in terms of the aid operation, what have you managed aid through that crossing point —— so there is a huge burden on rafah. especially as it has had to set up a humanitarian response from it does not usually respond... aid would not usually come through rafah before october 7th,. quantities of trucks are only an extra through hundreds which is not enough, trucks should be coming in and out of guys at all times and without a permanent ceasefire, we cannot really deliver this amount of aid in four days. how are we supposed to build homes, rebuild hospitals, allow women to have a safe place to deliver their babies? and weight is the restoration of people in the most densely updated area of the world —— razed to the ground. we are asking 2.2 million people to go into a smaller area? 2.2 million people to go into a smallerarea? i 2.2 million people to go into a smaller area? i was that safe exactly? that is even more a looming epidemic and diseases and infections, cramming people into a tiny place that was already cramped. nowhere is safe in gaza, we have known this. israel has targeted the north, south, middle area throughout this entire campaign, so there is no safe place in gaza. in any direction —— any directions by the israeli authorities and defence forces have been incorrect. people were detained, humiliated, killed on the safe route by israeli authorities, so there is a very big sense of distrust, especially that in 2014, israel broke the truce and people remember 2014 when that happened, so an extremely fragile, tense situation, but people can at least sleep and more on their relatives, because we are almost amounting between 15000 and 19,000 killed to the point that the ministry of health has stopped counting. brute the point that the ministry of health has stopped counting. we have to leave it there, _ corresponded. we continue to stay on these pictures of the rafah crossing. you were with us as anna brought the latest increment in terms of what is happening, this slow process for israel to actually have their hostages home and make the announcement. we still wait for that moment, but we have this four day pause, then potentially we return to the dynamic we have had for seven weeks. ., . , , the who are being reunited and for the palestinian prisoners are getting out ofjail, the bigger picture is dire in gaza and remains that way because has suffered 6.5 weeks of intense bombardment by israeli forces as they try to root out her mass to try and destroy their command and control centres, their commanders, their ammunition depots, so on, but along with that, very high number of civilians have died, over 14,000, according the hamas run health authority, figures accepted by most of the world. it looks like israel is poised to go into the south, which is where the greatest concentration of displaced residents is going to be. the problem here is that critics of israel's policy, including a lot of israelis, by the way, are simply kicking the problem down the road. it is one thing if you dismantle her weight back, you can probably do that, but then who will govern gaza? —— if you dismantle hamas. this tiny strip of land, the size of the isle of wight, not very big, two point 2 million people crammed into it, how will it be a peaceful neighbour if there is no point of them getting a sovereign palestinian state? that no point of them getting a sovereign palestinian state?— palestinian state? that is exactly what lord cameron, _ palestinian state? that is exactly what lord cameron, the - palestinian state? that is exactly what lord cameron, the uk's i palestinian state? that is exactly| what lord cameron, the uk's new foreign secretary, told the bbc a while ago, warning that israel will never be secure if there is not a long—term stability and security for the palestinian people, and also repeating that civilian casualties in gaza were too high and said israeli forces must abide by international humanitarian laws. so you can see a sense in part there in those comments of how there has been a subtle shift in how some of the western powers, the allies who have been so clearly behind israel in their right to self—defence now beginning to frame their advice. i think behind the scenes, there are increasingly strident calls by israel's main backer, the united states, but also other countries who consider themselves friends of israel, and have expressed enormous sympathy for the horrors that took place on october 7th, but they didn't expect it will*s retaliation to be so damaging to gaza and its residents. the expected them to go after hamas, but they did not expected to be this bad. it is not just the death toll, which is bad enough, 14,000 or as israel claims, less than that, fact is that the displacement, the first displacement of so many people with no proper shelter, no adequate supplies of food, etc, that is considered by many people to be a war crime. this is embarrassing israel's western allies. i attended the riyadh summit ten days ago, just over that, in saudi arabia, that summit was aimed not merely at israel, it was aimed at un security council members. they want the un security council permanent members, uk, britain, france, america china to put pressure on israel to show restraint and israel says it is showing restraint, single one takes more care than they do to avoid civilian casualties which doesn't really tally with 14,000 dead. the vast majority of people in the region are not opposed to an israeli state sitting there. it is hamas who is opposed to that. but as long as hamas governs gaza, which has allowed the destruction of israel, and as long as is really settlement spread out along the future palestinian state, there is not going to be peace in the region, it will go on, there will be periods of calm. we are down to israeli politics here. this government of israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu believes they can manage, or believed they could manage the problem, that gaza was under control. in the west bank was getting a bit female, the casualties were mounting there, a lot of violence there between settlers, the idf, palestinian —— getting a bit febrile. they thought they had at the south under control, this has been a very ugly reminder that israel will not be able to live in peace unless there is a longer term just a solution. peace unless there is a longer term just a solution-— just a solution. thank you very much, frank. _ just a solution. thank you very much, frank. you _ just a solution. thank you very much, frank. you are - just a later to see those palestinian prisoners released as part of the hostage deal, 39 palestinians due to be released. some movement there at the prison, butjust some movement there at the prison, but just looking some movement there at the prison, butjust looking at some movement there at the prison, but just looking at the some movement there at the prison, butjust looking at the clock, it is expected that release will happen in a little later, but we are monitoring it. those are the live pictures coming into us. that is at the second part of the deal as we continue to focus on the first part, and we know it is in train with those israeli hostages being handed over to the red cross was up let's head back to anna foster in tel aviv. what we know so far as the 13 israeli hostages are the first group of this larger number of 50 who will be released over the four days of this deal and they have been handed over to the red cross. sources told the bbc they had passed into egypt. the key moment, thinking all of this is the moment of cons information from israeli officials, be it the israel defense forces, the military —— the moment of confirmation. the moment at which those hostages had been received, medically checked, the moment they have been officially brought home i think is how they would describe it. that is the moment that people here and across israel are waiting for. ofer prison as you describe, is really important in all of this two. there is a two hour window after the hostages are released here to see those palestinian prisoners released as part of their steel. it is a four part of their steel. it is a four part deal in many ways and we sort start to come to fruition early this morning. at 7am, in the form of a ceasefire. important to say this is the first time in nearly seven weeks of war that we have seen a ceasefire. that the fighting has stopped in gaza comedy air strikes have stopped, the artillery shelling, —— that the fighting has stopped in gaza, air strikes have stopped. we saw extra humanitarian aid coming to rafah, and we are waiting to hear the confirmation that the israeli hostages had been released and we will wait to see those, we believe 39, palestinian prisoners released from ofer prison, women and teenage boys. they were held there. over the next four days as part of their steel, 150 palestinian prisoners will be released, but i think interesting to note any context of this wider deal between israel and the mass that was negotiated and brokered by qatar —— between israel and hamas, there is the possibility of this going on longer than four days. in terms of the release of the palestinian prisoners by israel, what they have to do legally is publicly releasing name, list of names of the prisoners who are eligible to be released under deal. the deal made provision for 150 palestinian prisoners to be released, but the list actually publish, an important legal part of all of this because people are allowed to appeal against it, that is actually —— actually had 200 names on it, so it is one of the provisions to perhaps allow this four day deal to be extended —— actually had 300 names on it. they are part of the negotiations through car that every additional ten hostages released, israel would be prepared to agree to an additional 24 hours of ceasefire. there are various thing that had been put in place with the hope they suffered a deal can be extended a little longer. and can actually deliver more of the hostages home. while we talk about their team today, 50 in the wider group, and the additional confirmation that 12 thai national hostages have also been released, we are told not as part of the deal, but as a goodwill gesture, it was confirmed by thailand a little earlier, there are still a very large number who are being held. we want to look at these live pictures from rafah crossing now. as i am talking to you, you can see those pictures. it is quarter to six in the evening here now. we are seeing lights at rafah crossing. it looks like a convoy of vehicles, which is why we are sort of paying particular attention to these quite dark pictures at the moment. this could be an important moment of all of this. red cross, who are the intermediary, have taken the hostages and are passing them from hamas over to israel, they have issued an additional statement saying they will bring in additional medical supplies to be delivered to hospitals in gaza and say that as a neutral intermediary, they are spending the next few days transferring those hostages held in gaza to the israeli authorities. they have also included a quote from the icrc*s regional directorfor they have also included a quote from the icrc*s regional director for the near and middle east, who says all hostages and detainees, including children must be treated with humanity and humanitarian principles must be respected at all times. including during the release and transfers. studio: let me add another line that the reuters news agency is reporting. the red cross has begun carrying out and facilitating the release and transfer of hostages and of palestinian detainees to the west bank. as we piece together the jigsaw of information, some of the pictures we sitting there and on the ground, very clearly both of these key transfers are currently being carried out we speak. that key transfers are currently being carried out we speak.— key transfers are currently being carried out we speak. that is right, matthew. carried out we speak. that is right, matthew- as _ carried out we speak. that is right, matthew. as you _ carried out we speak. that is right, matthew. as you explained - carried out we speak. that is right, matthew. as you explained very i matthew. as you explained very eloquently, this is something which was always going to be a long process in several stages. when qatar were revealing the details of what had been agreed in that press conference yesterday, they talked about for pm local time as the handover point. it is 12 minutes to six now in israel and gaza, so for nearly two hours, there has been this process going on, this sense of anxiety, the sense of anticipation as the hostages were handed over to the red cross, as you were saying. now the red cross is saying it is carrying out that operation to facilitate the transfer and release of both the gaza hostages and palestinian date detainees back to the west bank, which is also a keep part of this. hostages have been given over by hamas, and there are palestinian detainees who are being returned to the west bank too, and the icrc are the neutral facilitator and all of that. what we are seeing and all of that. what we are seeing and hearing isjust the and all of that. what we are seeing and hearing is just the slow steps of this process.— of this process. exactly that last hrase, of this process. exactly that last phrase. the _ of this process. exactly that last phrase, the slow _ of this process. exactly that last phrase, the slow steps - of this process. exactly that last phrase, the slow steps of i of this process. exactly that last phrase, the slow steps of this . phrase, the slow steps of this process. isuppose phrase, the slow steps of this process. i suppose it underlines, but it doesn't need underlining, just the excruciating nature of this for all of those families, even these last few moments and hours to actually get these people home. and this is only day one of four days. and that is only the first of 50 of 240. ., * * 4' 240. you're right. and i think it is also crucial. _ 240. you're right. and i think it is also crucial, and _ 240. you're right. and i think it is also crucial, and we _ 240. from one of the family members earlier, until he sees it, until it is confirmed... and if this is the problem, it is important to remember in all of this, there is a war going on between israel and hamas. there is no goodwill on both sides. each side is extremely suspicious, extremely distrustful of the other side and while this deal has been brokered by qatar, there is always the sense that something could go wrong, something could be derailed, something could be derailed, something could be derailed, something could happen. that is why people have that anticipation here. but also mixed with nervousness and worth mentioning the role that hostage releases have any of the israeli consciousness. you remember a few years ago, the israeli soldier who was held for several years in gaza. there was more than a thousand prisoners in exchange forjust one israeli soldier, gilad shalit. but the process of release and exchange, it is something here and israel have seen over years of the conflict. and of course, palestinians as well in gaza, the west bank, they have seen over many years whilst this conflict has been happening. and i think that is why you see people coming out here into tel aviv, you see people gathering, singing and talking and even as i'm speaking to you, there are people gathering around, waiting to see the pictures, waiting to hear that confirmation, that official confirmation. until people get that, until they know for sure this has happened, then i think there will be that momentary collective exhalation of breath, then they will look ahead to tomorrow, the next day, those four days, whether this can be extended. and whether or not of those other hostages, who are not part of this initial group, can be returned home as well. let part of this initial group, can be returned home as well.- part of this initial group, can be returned home as well. let me 'ust no returned home as well. let me 'ust go through — returned home as well. let through the latest information that is coming in. as you were talking, we saw the pictures are just flash through the flame there of the rafah crossing, those tv images are showing red cross vehicles crossing from gaza into egypt. that is what we were seeing just a few moments ago and at the afp news agency reporting israeli security forces are saying 13 israeli hostages have been handed to israeli hostages have been handed to israeli forces. we wait for official confirmation of that, but you can see as at the information comes in, we get ever closer in terms of the moment where israel before, as we were discussing, because of the fragility of this deal, the length of time it has taken to negotiate, and because of the various elements within it, there is always the possibility something could go wrong. we are just hearing... i think we arejust hearing something from the israeli security forces. i hearing something from the israeli security forces.— security forces. i think 'ust returning i security forces. i think 'ust returning to i security forces. i think 'ust returning to the i security forces. i think 'ust returning to the line i i security forces. i thinkjust hostages had been handed over to israeli forces, but that is being reported on the afp news agency, we wait for the official confirmation to come from the prime minister's office. we were always told that there would be a statement in this our. it was supposed to be about 15 minutes ago, but the nature of this, clearly the timeline was going to move just through the detail, the complications. you are taking us to the fact they were checking names on lists even at this stage, but bit by bit, those elements of confirmation are coming in. that's right. and i think the reason why so much of this is shrouded in a certain level of secrecy is nobody wants to get this wrong. we were talking about the fragility of this deal, the fact it is based largely on a ceasefire is welcome a crucial part of all this. you having in gaza right now many, many israeli forces who although in a state of ceasefire in defensive positions, and many members of hamas as well. let's have a look those live pictures. these are pictures recorded just in the last few minutes, if you moments ago. the red cross vehicles actually passing through rafah crossing. it is importantjust to talk through rafah crossing. it is important just to talk about the geography of this as well. it is a geography of this as well. it is a geography i think people have become a lot more familiar with over the last few weeks. in order to leave quys last few weeks. in order to leave guys out there used to be in s crossing any northwich was used to crossing any northwich was used to cross into israel, but the remaining crossing that is being used, actually moving out of gaza is not an easy process, so there has been so much focus on the rafah crossing. the hostages need to pass into egypt before passing back into israel. that is why this process is longer. it is not simply about those hostages moving from gaza immediately into israel. it is about the egyptian dynamic in all of this they have to come into the rafah crossing to egypt, then returned to israel. just looking again at every little bit of vital detail. it seems those red cross jeeps, little bit of vital detail. it seems those red crossjeeps, perhaps of one of the thai nationals visible on the back of one of those vehicles. it is important to keep coming back to this point, it is a delicate process, a long and slow process, everybody wants to say this is it comedy hostages have been returned, but it is one of those moments where it is about caution and waiting for that and working through the steps as it gets closer and closer, but really waiting for that official confirmation, the official moment. as decided on and agreed on in that deal with israel antanas. == as decided on and agreed on in that deal with israel antanas.— dealwith israelantanas. they get taken, what is the help, aid, psychological help they will get given what they have gone through over seven weeks? that get given what they have gone through over seven weeks? that is an im tortant through over seven weeks? that is an important question _ through over seven weeks? that is an important question because _ through over seven weeks? that is an important question because as - through over seven weeks? that is an important question because as you i important question because as you say, this release is mainly women and children, but we do not know who those 13 are. they could all be children being released today. in some cases we have been prepared for the notion that children will be released without their parents. we know there are child hostages there with the father, we know that men are not going to be released. perhaps today for some of those children it will be them taken away from their parents or family members to be returned into israel. we do not know a great deal about the conditions they have been held in over these last seven weeks. we do not know about their health or what they know. we do not know about what happened on 7th of october. there is a very strong possibility that those details, that information has been kept from them, so some of those hostages will be coming out to news of deaths and murders they were not previously aware of during that time in captivity. there are two elements to this, as you say, the physical elements where these hostages will be medically checked, and they're being taken straight to hospitals. we have told there are various levels of medical care in place for them. they will be checked over, checked for health, but also the mental health of those hostages is enormously important. again we have been told they will be given any necessary psychosocial... even down to tiny details, they may be particularly reactive to noise, for example, they have been held hostage in an act war zone for nearly seven weeks, they will no doubt have heard the sounds of air strikes on fighting. they may be extremely troubled by noises. by light*s, for example. if they have been kept underground in the dark, things like actually coming into the light might cause all sorts of problems. so there are just so many tiny details, i think, to be dealt with. the people behind us, and i spoke yesterday to one of the professors who actually works with the hostages and missing families group, who has actually treated some of the four hostages who were released already and he was talking about the importance of this moment and having the support in place, everything those people will need for what is going to be an enormously difficult and traumatic transition back to their everyday lives, back handed over to the red cross, these some of the recent pictures, they are thought now to be in egypt under that deal brokered by qatar. most of them we know are children. now, from them we know are children. now, from the rafah border crossing with egypt. the rafah border crossing with egypt, ultimately they will be taking to a military air base in southern israel. then on to an israeli hospital and ultimately reunited with their families. now, as that is happening thailand's prime minister confirmed earlier that 12 thai hostages have been released. all of them men, as part of a separate deal with hamas. now, under the main deal, 39 palestinian prisoners are also due to be released later in the day. the red cross says it is facilitating the release and transfer of hostages and prisoners and there is now a four day pause in the fighting, it is holding and as a result convoys of aid trucks have already headed into gaza, so those are the key planks as we look again at those picture of those red cross vehicles just going through the crossing point. that happened about 20 minutes ago, let us go back to anna foster, she is there in tel aviv, and anna, it is worth for anyonejustjoining hostage's families have come, they have come here for vigils, come here some times for protest, just a couple of days ago i was talking to the mother of one of the hostages and they had come here to hold a piano concert in his honour, he was a keen piano player, so this is the hub, the focal point for many of the hostage's families, that why you have seen the crowds building here, you see the posters of the face, you know, the names of the hostages that are on everything from stickers, to poster, to big lit up from stickers, to poster, to big lit up billboards round television and round the country. people —— tel aviv. people are waiting for confirmation that the hostages have been released. as we were saying, an israeli security source said the hostages are in the hands of israeli security services but it appears not physically inside israel, because as we were saying that pass out of gaza into egypt first of all, and then israeli security services will bring them eventually back in to israel once again. we also have a quote now, one of the main israeli news channel, channel 13 is saying that the head of the israeli ambulance service says that 13 hostages are in good condition, and speaking, because i think that was a key part of this deal as well, and in fact when we heard the qataris announce yesterday we brought you that press conference here, one of the questions that was asked, as part of that press conference, is, are all of those hostages that are being released, the 13, are they alive? are they well? because of course these are vital questions, that people don't necessarily know the answer to. people don't necessarily know the answerto. but people don't necessarily know the answer to. but the israeli ambulance service say the 13 hostages who are being released today on day one of this four day deal are in good condition, and are speaking. i think the choreography of what we see today, is, is important as well, because this will hopefully, you know, people here are hoping they will see this repeated over the next four day, this is sort of the third part of what will happen today, started with a ceasefire, we saw additional trucks of humanitarian aid, pass into gaza, the next step will be the confirmation of the release of those hostage, we have seen and we see the pictures against of the red cross jeeps coming out of guards, through the rafah crossing into egypt, all very positive signs, all small steps along the way. the next stage, i think, will be the official confirmation from israel, that those hostages have been returned home, that they are back on israeli soil, and then that will trigger, if you like, the fourth part of this deal, which is the release of palestinian prisoners, who have been are being held in israeli jails, we have been watching as well the live pictures of ofer prison, and over the next four days, 150 palestinian prisoner, women and teenage boys in the main are expected to be released from there as part of this deal, a two hour window was the suggestion, certainly in that press conference yesterday, that after israel confirmed safe receipt of the hostages, within two hours they would then release the palestinian prisoners, the agreed palestinian prisoners, the agreed palestinian prisoners, the agreed palestinian prisoners that are being held in ofer prison, if that goes to man, it should repeat for the next three day, there are hopes on all sides that could continue. israel has said for every ten additional israeli hostages over and above the 50 agreed they are prepared to continue to extend that ceasefire, by 24 hours. qatar said they hope this could be a more permanent truce, that might be a, that might be a big ambition to have, at the moment, depending on who you speak to. but this deal which has taken so long to agree on, so long to negotiate is further down the line and it seems we are close, the international committee for the red cross has told the bbc that eight of their staff are travelling in four vehicles, have transported them. there was a doctor as part of the icrc team, the hostages were handed over to the egyptian authority, it seems, according to sources that egypt have shanded —— handed them on the israeli sources and the next stage will be the return of those hostages, actually back to israel, to israeli hospitals that, are prepared and ready to sthesm, and where the families of those 13 are also waiting to be reunited with them. fits also waiting to be reunited with them. * , , ., also waiting to be reunited with them. what lies ahead over the coming minutes, and, hours and of course you were just taking us through the choreography, and fact this deal effectively has four stages, and of course, we also have that stage at the ofer prison and i will put pictures up on the screen, now, because as you were talking, we had pictures from this prison, where they were trying to disperse the crowds, and we sawjust tear gas being fired in the last few minutes, sorry to lose the pictures there, just literally, two or three minutes ago we were seeing attempts by the authorities to disperse the large crowds gathered outside that prison, as they await for that leg of this deal, the release of those 39 palestinian prisoners, so, so many different things happening broadly at the same time, but going back to this anna, which is we are returning to the pictures of the red cross that earlier convoy. just take me through some of the stories and what people there that the square have been telling you, because so many who have gathered there are not on this list, they know that, they have to wait for day two, day three, day four, to see if potentially they may be. , ., ., ., , ., ., _ be. they do, and that is enormously difficult, because _ be. they do, and that is enormously difficult, because which _ be. they do, and that is enormously difficult, because which know - be. they do, and that is enormously difficult, because which know the i be. they do, and that is enormously difficult, because which know the 50 hostages that have being released in in there are a lot group, we know that only children and women are in that only children and women are in that group, so already you have that group of families a who are waiting for male relatives, they know that that will not happen as part of this initial four day deal. equally the families of children, you know, we know that there are families who were told last night that their loved ones were being released today. we know families watch who knew that the israeli authorities were getting on the phone to the people on the first list, and they found out that even though they might have been waiting for the release of children, that that was not going to happen today for them, and they will continue to wait for tomorrow, and for sunday and for monday, as this continue, so i think that the choreography the lodge sticks matthew i think will probably mirror what we saw yesterday, —— logistics. if this first part is success. when the hostages are returns when the palestinian prisoners are released, think that will trigger the next phase, that will trigger the next phase, that will trigger the next phase, that will trigger a new list from hamas, that will be sent o israel and we will see this process repeat, if all goes to plan a as it is supposed to over the next four days or so, but what is really crucial in all of this h and speaking to many of the hostage families, is that even those who know that their relatives are not come back today, have this sense of anticipation and this sense of, of, sort of almostjoy and excitement which they describe as a very strange thing, but they have become a very tight grouping, they have supported each other, they are going through the same experience together. think they have drawn strength from the closeness and thele tightness of that grouping, you really, when you talk to the hostage families get the sense that evenif hostage families get the sense that even if their relative are not part of the release now, they feel like it takes them a step forward, if we see successful hostage release, they say look, that paves the way, that opens a door as it has been described, that opens the door for further negotiations, it opens the door door for this further negotiations, it opens the door doorfor this deal further negotiations, it opens the door door for this deal potentially to be continued orfor a new deal. anna, let me read you a line that i am just getting from the international red cross, coming out of geneva, but they have confirmed that 24 hostages were released today from gaza, handed over to the egyptian authorities at the rafah boarding crossing point. they were accompanied by eight icrc staff, i want to go back to that number 24, because that doesn't quite add up in terms of the maths we were expecting, because we were expecting 13 israeli hostages, and we know that a further 12 thai hostages were released and that number is of course 25, so, it was interesting, you were cautioning viewers a little earlier about the exact details, names, number, lists, and certainly, on the face of it, the numbers don't quite add up there. they don't quite, and i think part of the difficulty is that obviously, at a moment like this, you know everybody, they want to know, straightaway, you know, there is that thirst for information, the thirst for new, the thirst for confirmation, and of course that is natural isn't it. it's a natural human response in a situation like this, particularly when we are talking about released hostages, we are talking about family members waiting for reunited with their loved one, as you say there, this is a process that is, you know we know some of the details but it is also shrouded in secrecy —— secrecy in many ways because of the delicacy of this deal because of the real fears it could go wrong, at any point, that you know, something could happen to make that ceasefire break down, that you know potentially the hostages might not match the list, they might not be handed over as planned. you think about the complexity of this operation and you think about the various things that could go wrong, so i think that is why the information sort of comes out in fits and starts like that, the number as you say, as we understand it, should be 25. it should be 13 israelis or israeli dual nationals as you were reflected earlier, the identities of those 13 have been, have been with held for the moment. we will no doubt in time find out who hay are, but right now until they are back on israeli soil, there is a, you know, a real will politically and militarily, and from the family members as well, it is important to say, to keep the identities of those 13 secret for now, until they are back home safe, and then again in terms of that number, 12 thai nationals have been released. they were not part of this deal negotiated between israel and hamas of course, the military wing of hamas said they had, they told the bbc they had been released adds a good willjess corbelling we know the thai government had been working particularly hard to negotiate their release, a large number of thai nationals are among the hoes tares because if you look at the area where the attacks happened, where the hostages were taken from, that agricultural area of southern israel, and you often get a lot of thai workers working in those kibbutzim, so that is why there are so many thai nationals involved. 12 have been released we are led to believe as part of the deal today, but the numbers, as you say, are interesting, the 24, the 25, we almost wait to see i think when we get that, official confirmation, think there are checks being made with the red cross, to see whether the number of thai nationals is in fact 12, i think if there is discrepancy in the numbers that is where it is perhaps likely to be, i think the 13 was very much a key part of this deal, because we know it is 50 israeli and israeli dual national hostage, the release of the thai nationals was an additional thing, which happened. so, let me see here, this is a spokesman for the qatari foreign ministry, saying 13 israelis ten thais, one filipino, again, matthew, it is these moments where we are taking little bits of information and threads and trying to make sense of it live as it is happening, bringing you the latest information butjust making sure that we keep it sort of accurate and correct, so you know what is happening a, you know what people are talking about, you know what is happening in the background but what is confirmed and not confirmed i think is at the heart of this right now isn't it. think is at the heart of this right now isn't it— think is at the heart of this right now isn't it. , ., , , ~ ., now isn't it. yes, absolutely. anna force other — now isn't it. yes, absolutely. anna force other thanks _ now isn't it. yes, absolutely. anna force other thanks very _ now isn't it. yes, absolutely. anna force other thanks very much. i i now isn't it. yes, absolutely. anna| force other thanks very much. i will be back with you in a moment or two. let us bring in bbc arik correspondent reda el mawy who is there at the air base where those released hostages are expected to arrive, and just paint the picture for us in terms of have you seen any activity there, in the last little while? * ., , ., activity there, in the last little while? * . , ., while? i'm in the military air base in in southern _ while? i'm in the military air base in in southern israel, _ while? i'm in the military air base in in southern israel, this- while? i'm in the military air base in in southern israel, this is- in in southern israel, this is according, if everything goes according, if everything goes according to plan this would be the first stop for the hostages, for the release hostages, after their release hostages, after their release on israeli land, the media has been waiting here for over three hours of, waiting for any news about the arrival of the released hostages, we were initially informed by the israeli defence forces, that they will arrive by helicopters, at four helicopters will take them from the rafah crossing, now we know they will be coming through bus, the journey from the rafah crossing will take round one hours 30 minutes or 40 minutes for we are still waiting for new new, what we know what has been confirmed by the international red cross now that they have crossed you mentioned on the egyptian side, egyptian media are saying that the head of the internal security services have met already with the released hostages, what we know what we will not be able to see the bus, theically take a different route, thatis theically take a different route, that is not close to where we are right now. right hee e, there are lots of media waiting, and we also, we don't have access to anywhere near the families of the hostage, the israeli army wants to separate and they were really clear about this, they don't want the media to speak to the families of the hostages before they get reunited with them. so, here, the plan is, according to the israeli defence forces, is that all the released hostages will undergo medical assessment. psychological assessment here and there is the central hospital here, will host any released hostages who need medical care, and those who can travel will be travelling by helicopter, to different medical centres, in tel aviv and one of them is for children. this is what we know so far, but the situation is quite fluid, the plan is changing by the minute. but we are still waiting to see if or to hear rather, if the released hostages arrive here. yes, and just to explain to viewer, these are the pictures from earlier, those red cross vans, that convoy that made the way across the border crossing point, carrying those hostages, just in some of the pictures you get a glimpse of those inside, but we still wait for the exact break down in terms of women, numbers of children, the israeli authorities earlier in the day releasing pictures of the rooms in the hospital they had prepared especially for the children, because they know what they have gone through, overthe they know what they have gone through, over the last seven weeks, and they make all the preparations and they make all the preparations and no surprise that they are at pains to protect certainly identities, until they have actually had a chance to make a physical psychological assessment of those hostages. reda, thank you very much from that air base, when there is more move omit, detail we will obviously return to that. let me return to those live pictures though, because the border crossing point is one of the areas that we remained focussed upon, these were the pictures i showed you a short while ago, that is the confirmation and the international red cross telling us new the last little while, that are in total, 24 hostages have come out of gaza today, and nan was taking you through and there was some slight confusion about the exact numbers because we knew 13 israeli hostages were expected, and also those 12 thai people that have been released, that was rather unexpected. that was a separate deal negotiated with hamas, so, the exact number not totalling the 25 but anna was say nag the key part of today's deal, those 13 israeli hostage, so she thought it was unlikely that there was any variation in terms of the numbers there, but all of this, it is worth constantly underlining, all of this we wait for official confirmation because various sources are being quoted. israeli media being quoted. we have seen the pictures of course at the rafah crossing point but no official word yet from the israeli government. we continue to wait for that. we were told it was going to come to us about and hour and 20 minutes ago but the time line on something like to was likely to be fluid so we wait for tae official confirmation. let us speak to noga tarnopolsky, a journalist who has been covering the israeli palestinian conflict for two decades. shejoins me now from jerusalem, thank you you very much for being here on to the programme. let us take think in stages, because we see the various choreography, the part of this release, but in terms of the importance of this day for israel, just give me that assessment first of all. . . israel, just give me that assessment first of all. , ., ., first of all. there is a real feelint first of all. there is a real feeling of _ first of all. there is a real feeling ofjubilation i first of all. there is a real feeling ofjubilation and l first of all. there is a real i feeling ofjubilation and relief among israelis, just a few minutes ago, i heard one of the family members save their lived. that is the extent of the tension, nobody has any idea. israelis have received the first reports from red cross, from the red cross, that they all seem in decent physical shape, so, i would say huge relief, and expectation for the next few days. it is clearly been excruciating for the whole of the country, but, absolutely for all of those families, because even with this four day pause, it is day—by—day they learn the crucial information that they wait for.— that they wait for. yes, or actually. _ that they wait for. yes, or actually, don't _ that they wait for. yes, or actually, don't learn, i that they wait for. yes, or actually, don't learn, it i that they wait for. yes, or actually, don't learn, it is| actually, don't learn, it is remarkable but the family members of the hostages released today only are getting full confirmation now, so, the depth of the lack of information, nobody knows in what conditions they have been held, nobody knows yet, people are not seeing videos and trying to guess who they are identifying. they appear, the israelis appear to be redents of kintsds who were kidnapped together from the same place on october 7th and were held in southern gaza. then there are 11 finally not 12, citizens of the philippines and of thailand. so those reports have been mixed up but that the latest have heard. they have been released together. i don't think they are in israel but they are in israeli hands, that is the official notification we have got. give me a sense of the mood in terms of the wider questions, you have this, which is obviously dominating the focus, the intention there, in israel. how are people viewing this, with the wider war? i israel. how are people viewing this, with the wider war?— with the wider war? i think israelis are rather shocked _ with the wider war? i think israelis are rather shocked to _ with the wider war? i think israelis are rather shocked to confront i with the wider war? i think israelis are rather shocked to confront the | are rather shocked to confront the fact that they were promised ma hamas would be destroyed after killing 1200 israelis in a terror attack and that it is in fact hamas that will is core crowing fing this event and that israel is sitting every day with bated breath to hear who hamas says they will release next. what hamas says about these co—ordination, so there is a i would say frustration, fear that there will be a lot of diplomatic pressure on israel, to stop the war after these initial four days, on israel, to stop the war after these initialfour days, and that means for israeli, in fact, they can never go home, for example. that the danger and southern borderer will not have been eliminated. thahk danger and southern borderer will not have been eliminated. thank you ve much not have been eliminated. thank you very much for— not have been eliminated. thank you very much for taking _ not have been eliminated. thank you very much for taking time _ not have been eliminated. thank you very much for taking time to - not have been eliminated. thank you very much for taking time to speak i very much for taking time to speak to us, noga. before guy back to anna foster, let me confirm one line coming in to us from qatar, because the afp news agency, we were talking about how the numbers on the surface didn't seem to add up. let me tell you what you the qatari officials are saying, i think that confirmed that the hostages released by hamas are 13 israelis, now that was number we expected. 107 thai nationals, and one filipino and that does get us to the number of 24 that has been announced, so that rogue figure of 12 thais that have been reported by the thai prime minister earlier, that seems to have been the source of the confusion and why the numbers didn't add it. it: that number does add up to 24, so more clarity there, coming into us o, and anna, all the while we are getting more information and what more are you hearing aboutjust how these israeli hostages are, is there any more detail emerging, now that we know that they have been handed over to the red cross and to the egyptians? i think the clearest indication that we have heard one of the main israeli tv channels has spoken to the head of mda, the israeli ambulance service and he said that 13 israeli hostages were well, and were speaking, now, what i do know, is that you know, behind the scene a lot of work has been down by the authority, the israeli government, throughout this process, they, i think, at a point which, which they decide, when they think this has all gone well and gone according to plan, i think they will release a certain amount of informing. if you think about it, every day, the idf, the israel defense force, they release information and briefings about how the previous day's military operation has gone in gaza, they release pictures often of troop, of armoured vehicles. it is important to say this is all, you know, pictures and video that have been filmed by and distributed by israeli officials, and you know, there have been occasions when journalists international journalists international journalists have been taken in to gaza, on sort of embedded trips, with the idf, but that is something thatis with the idf, but that is something that is sort of overall controlled by israeli officials and i think what we will see, in the next few hours, you know, ithink what we will see, in the next few hours, you know, i think while all this is happening and we are not seeing pictures now, i think we will start to see picture, i have no doubt elements are being photographed orfilmed doubt elements are being photographed or filmed and are doubt elements are being photographed orfilmed and are being kept so they can be shared. such as the interest in this story, notjust new in country, but round the middle east and round the world as well, and that is why i think this, this process is taking a long time. it is 27 minutes past six here now, in israel, and gaza, when we heard from the qataris yesterday about the detail, and you know, it was deal with a lot of fine detail, it had been hammered out over days and week, we knew exactly what to expect. when we were talking about the numbers that is why it seemed so unlikely the number of israeli hostages would have changed because they are a key part of the deal. and that season why i think, you know, we see this taking, taking a long time, it needs to be done properly but it is two—and—a—half hours since the time that the qataris said that hand over was due to take place, it was supposed to happen at 4pm local time. what is also interesting and worth keeping an eye on, you have been showing live pictures of ofer prison, in the west bank because as the final piece of the jigsaw of this deal, today, once we have had the confirmation those israeli hostages are safely back in israel, and we only talk about the israelis because they were part of the deal, there is then a two hour window at that point, for palestinian prisoners to be released from ofer prisoners to be released from ofer prison where we have been seeing the live pictures of some crowds gathering, we have been seeing what looks like the preparation for prisoner release. let looks like the preparation for prisoner release.— prisoner release. let me 'ust dive... dive i prisoner release. let me 'ust dive... dive in, i prisoner release. let me 'ust dive... dive in, because i prisoner release. let me just dive... dive in, because as. prisoner release. let me just| dive... dive in, because as we prisoner release. let me just - dive... dive in, because as we have seen through the course of the last two hours everything is so fluid, i am just going to tell you the latest line coming from reuters out of cairo, which and i will read it to you. a total of 39 women and children detained in israeli jails have been released as part of that truce agreement between israel and hamas, now thaw has come prime minister qatar's foreign ministry spokesman in a post on x, so although as you were saying, there seem to be a time line where we had a two hour window it does appear or certainly one post from qatar's foreign ministry spokesman saying that release has happened. we then wait for confirmation of this that but that is some the ratest detail. that is interesting because what it would suggest, and we have talked so much about the logistics and choreography of this, it was very clear those palestinian detainees would only be released once israel had received and were happy and confident about having received and the physical condition of those 13 hostages. the physical condition of those 13 hostaues. ., ., ., hostages. even though we have not had that official _ hostages. even though we have not had that official confirmation - hostages. even though we have not had that official confirmation from i had that official confirmation from the israeli authorities, from the military or government, i think it is fair to say that prisoner release would not have gone ahead where the israeli government not confident they had received back and in good health the 13 people they were expecting. that prisoner release from ofer prison was entirely dependent on hamas handing over the 13 hostages as expected. we find i3 hostages as expected. we find ourselves in any position now where the piece is a better starting to come together. even though we do not have the official message, however it will come, a statement video message, i'm not entirely sure how it will look, but the fact that this palestinian prisoner release has taken place according to carter's foreign ministry spokesperson, —— qatar's fromagerie spokesperson, i would suggest they hand over the hostages has gone well and we are waiting for an official statement of what has already happened. just as ou are what has already happened. just as you are finishing _ what has already happened. just as you are finishing your _ what has already happened. just as you are finishing your answer, - what has already happened. just as you are finishing your answer, we l you are finishing your answer, we are looking at some pictures coming from the egyptian
