A taste from the past: Von C Brewing of Norristown revives nostalgic brand of beer

NORRISTOWN — Work hard. Play hard. Drink local.
That’s not only good advice, it’s the slogan at the heart of von C Brewing Co., Norristown’s only brewery.
Although the brewing company located in Stanbridge Street’s rapidly growing industrial district is making its debut this month, the brothers von Czoernig (hence, the more candid “von C,” as one of the men explained) are  carrying on a venerable legacy familiar to many Norristonians: Schmidt’s Beer.

Eventually patrons can read a timeline mural that details the evolution of Schmidt’s, check out the history on the website (voncbrewing.com) or simply ask any of the three brothers, Rick von Czoernig, Eric Czoernig and Jay Czoernig, who are all hands-on guys overseeing operations here.
