On Thursday night, joint police operatives arrested two persons during a buy-bust in Barangay Mansilingan. A police report identified the suspects as Richard Hofilena, 36, of Purok Bulak, Barangay Mandalagan; and Kerlyn De Asis, 25, of Lopez Jaena Street, Barangay 27. At around 8 p.m., a poseur buyer transacted with them in the area of Block 2, Purok Hermelinda Homes to buy PHP13,000 worth of shabu. Operatives seized from the suspects six big sachets containing shabu weighing about 35 grams valued at PHP238,000. They also confiscated a Honda Click motorcycle, a mobile phone, and a black pouch. The operation was launched by the team of Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas, together with personnel of BCPO Police Station 7. At around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jeffrey Gumi-as, 27, was arrested at his residence in Purok Riverside, Barangay Montevista by operatives of Bacolod City Police Office Station 4. In a radio interview, Maj. Ritchie Gohee, chief of Police Station 4, said Gumi-as is considered a newly-identified drug personality, whose illegal drug activity was being monitored by the police in the past week. The suspect sold PHP500 worth of shabu to the undercover policeman and also yielded about eight grams of the same prohibited substance valued at PHP54,400. (PNA) }
