NKY teen found guilty of fatally shooting 18-year-old cousin in 2019

A Northern Kentucky teen was found guilty of murder on Friday, the Kenton County Commonwealth s Attorney s Office said.
Brandon Hambrick, 17, of Newport is facing a possible sentence of 45 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his cousin, 18-year-old Ke Ovion Markel Seay Tevis.
Another teen, 18-year-old DeAngelo Jones-Smith, also of Newport pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter in connection to Tevis death and is expected to serve 15 years in prison, officials said.
Tevis, who graduated from Holmes High School two months before his death, was found by officers with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and head at the River s Edge parking lot at Eastside Pointe Apartments in Covington on Aug. 3, 2019. He died from his injuries in the ambulance. ....

Communities across the country commemorated the fallen heroes of American armed forces with ceremonies on Memorial Day.
Ashland and Holmes counties were no exceptions.
Addressing the crowd at Ashland Cemetery was Mayor Matt Miller. The service was held after a parade that had about 70 units.
A large crowd lined West Main Street as the parade traveled west to the Ashland Cemetery for the Memorial Day service. Post commanders of the area veterans organizations were the marshals of the parade.
The family of Donald B. Williams, who was involved with the Ohio 1st Light Artillery Battery D re-enactors, dedicated a United States 10-pounder Parrott rifle in honor of Battery D. It is located at the cemetery next to the gazebo. ....

COVINGTON, Ky. Nine hours of activity on Monday honored fallen veterans as part of Covington’s annual Memorial Day services.
