“I just want to say, I’m just asking you guys, no matter what decision you make that you just make for what is best for the residents of the housing authority,” Reyes said during public comment on agenda items at Wednesday’s meeting.
“I want to make it clear to this council, as well as the public that’s listening and any resident that’s listening, that yes I was on the board years ago replacing Ms. [Dana] Wefer, unfortunately during that time my mom’s health was deteriorating. I decided to go ahead and put in another application because I knew I could not dedicate the time to the board at that time.” ....

Under the proposed plan amendments, the Public Works Garage will be redeveloped into a roughly 16 stories tall building with ground floor retail space.
The Hoboken City Council has adopted a resolution in favor of the redevelopment and land swap agreement between the city and the developers of the embattled Monarch site as well as plan amendments to the Public Works Garage site.
The latest iteration of the agreement between the city and Ironstate Development includes the transfer of both the Monarch waterfront property and 1.45 acres of land at 800 Monroe St. to the city from Ironstate for public open space. ....

The Hoboken City Council okayed the latest version of a Monarch settlement that will allow the city to maintain their current Department of Public Works location for up to three years, while voting down a measure that would’ve fined electeds who block constituents on social media.

“The height of the building is a main concern that we’re having. The Hoboken City Council could decide on reaching a Monarch settlement with Ironstate Development that would also determine the immediate future of the Department of Public Works garage tonight, though elected leaders are clearly split on the sense of urgency here.

According to Mayor Ravi Bhalla, the proposed redeveloper agreement heading before the council transfer both the Monarch property and 800 Monroe St. to the city for open, public space.
Additionally, this would add 30,000 square feet of commercial retail space, along with 321 market rate units residential units and 40 affordable units, to the DPW garage site at 256 Observer Highway, which would allow the city to stay at that for location for up to three years – with a $500,000 incentive if they vacate the space in two years or less. ....
