In Hoboken, Cohen files ELEC complaint against Fisher for late council filing

The complaint contends that Fisher never filed a 20-day post election report after being re-elected to another four-year term on November 5th, 2019. Her most recent filing is dated October 29th, 2019, according to NJ ELEC’s online database.
In a statement, Cohen indicates that he brought this up during a public session at the beginning of the year and it still hast not been remedied.
“During the Hoboken City Council’s meeting of January 6, 2021, I specifically told Councilwoman Fisher that her most recent ELEC disclosure for Hoboken’s November 5, 2019 City Council election was filed on October 29, 2019,” he explained. ....

The city held a virtual public meeting of the draft Vision Zero Action Plan on Jan. 13.
After months of planning and research, Hoboken released its draft Zero Action Plan that aims to eliminate all traffic-related injuries and deaths in Hoboken by 2030.
“Hoboken is committed to creating safer streets for all users, and our Vision Zero Action Plan will create the roadmap to make this a reality,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “At the same time, we aren’t just waiting for the plan to achieve zero pedestrian injuries or fatalities; we’ve implemented a number of safety projects, including curb extensions across the City, five miles of new bike lanes, new traffic signals, a raised intersection next to Columbus Park, the Newark Street Complete Street Redesign, open and slow streets, and more. I look forward to building on this progress with our Vision Zero team in the weeks and months to come.” ....

Hoboken City Council tightens pay-to-play laws before mayoral election

The Hoboken City Council introduced an ordinance that would update the city s pay-to-play laws before the upcoming November election.
The Hoboken City Council has unanimously introduced a first-reading ordinance that aims to tighten the city’s pay-to-play laws.
This comes as the city gears up for its municipal elections in which the position of mayor and three at-large council seats are up for election.
Only Council President Ruben Ramos has filed documents with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission, creating the “Ramos for Mayor” committee.
Mayor Ravi Bhalla is also expected to run, having more than $100,000 in his election fund, according to his January state filings, although he has not yet formally announced. ....

HOBOKEN, NJ - As eyes were fixed on a far more tumultuous exchange of power in the nation s Capitol on Wednesday, Hoboken s City Council peacfully restructured its own leadership, naming a new President and Vice President of the Council for 2021.
Fourth Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos was selected to serve as the Council President, following a 5-3 vote. Ramos, a veteran of Hoboken politics, had made an indication in late December that he was exploring a possible Mayoral run in the forthcoming municipal election this Fall. The three votes against Ramos presidency came from Councilperson Cohen, Doyle and Jabbour each allies of Mayor Ravi Bhalla. ....
