Marshall Spring Fish Fry
The Marshall School Committee will host a Spring Fish Fry Carry-out at the Marshall School Gymnasium from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 27. Fish, chicken tenders, French fries, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, apple pie, cherry pie, peach pie and brownies will be available for a freewill donation. Walk-in or curbside service will be available with masks required for walk-ins. All proceeds will be used for renovation and upkeep of the gym. Ham bingo fundraiser
The Highland County Senior Citizens Centers invites everyone to its 100 Ham Bingo fundraiser Saturday, March 27 at the Southern State Community College parking lot in Hillsboro. It will start at noon with bingo and raffles from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per person which includes four bingo cards, a snack pack, raffle ticket for the big prize and Easter baskets. NRCS accepting EQIP and NWQI applications through Jan. 15

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced that Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 is the deadline to submit applications for Ohio’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
Additionally, NRCS is offering an opportunity for agricultural producers in three watersheds in the East Fork Little Miami River Basin to apply for assistance installing conservation practices that protect water quality through the National Water Quality Initiative (NWQI). The deadline for NWQI applications is also Jan. 15, 2021.
Financial assistance through EQIP is now available in a variety of agricultural categories such as cropland, pasture operations, and organic. Several special projects are also available which address water quality, forestry management, improving pollinator populations and wildlife habitat, pasture improvements and many more. ....

The Highland Soil and Water Conservation District recognized Mike Penn for his three years of outstanding service on the board of supervisors during their final 2020 board meeting of the year on Dec 9, 2020.
Mike lives in Madison Township where he and his wife operate a cow/calf operation on their 400-acre farm. He is the President of Greenfield Research Inc. and has always been an avid supporter of the soil and water conservation district. The supervisors and staff would like to thank Mike for promoting conservation in Highland County and being a great inspiration to everyone. ....
