THE fruits of a literacy project for immigrant families to share their stories that began in a north Clare school has earned a national award for Clare County Council. The Council has been presented with the Chambers Ireland 2020 Excellence in Local Government ‘Best Library Service’ Award for the project, ‘Connections: Stories by Syrian Families in County Clare’. The presentation of the award was made at Shannon Library by the Chief Executive Officer of Shannon Chamber, Helen Downes, to representatives of Clare County Council. ‘Connections’ is a compilation of written and illustrated stories in which the authors – children and adults – recall real places and experiences and imagine a bright future in Ireland and, in particular, in County Clare. ....
Clare FM 4th May 2021 Shannon Chamber’s CEO is hopeful the town is on its way to becoming a hub for automotive companies across the world to set up its base. It follows American company Renovo Motors announced 30 new jobs in Shannon today, as it establishes its European headquarters in software development in the town. The posts will be spread across management, software development, engineering, and business development. Eddie s dedication to Shannon was obvious Reporter: ); ); TRIBUTES have been paid to a founding director of the Shannon Chamber and its first acting chief executive Eddie Ryan. Eddie, who passed away earlier this week, had an association with aviation spanning over 70 years, and was awarded the Royal Aeronautical Society’s distinguished service for this lifetime of dedication to aviation and inspiring many young people. He was instrumental in the setting up of the Aviation Museum in Shannon Town. Remembering Eddie, Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes says: “Without much help from anyone, Eddie established the Aviation Museum, and along with Jane Magill has since developed it into one of the few visitor attractions currently in Shannon. ....
