Born in Rockford, Illinois, he moved to California with his family when he was a teenager. He spent several years in Santa Barbara where his family settled, and he graduated from UCSB. David met Helen Espitallier, they married and eventually moved to the Sacramento area, finally settling in Cameron Park, where David could be near his beloved Sierras. There they raised two daughters, Whitney Tucker and Dana Tucker. David was a unique personality and did things his way. He was a bit of an outsider and didn t care much about conforming. It was that authenticity that endeared him to others. ....
One rowing club has made its community proud, taking home three medals at the all-important championships. Celia Whittam, Samantha Ayers and Nick Cowan, of Lakeland Rowing Club, were among those representing Great Britain at the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Championships, which took place from 23-27 February. The trio raced in real time against competitors on rowing machines in homes and gyms throughout the world. Celia, from Troutbeck, took silver in the women’s age 60-plus 500m category in one minute, 48.7 seconds – almost two seconds faster than her time to win the same medal at BRIC. Eaglesfield woman Samantha won bronze in the women’s lightweight age 50-54 2,000m race, with a personal best time of seven minutes, 34.9 seconds. ....

Lakeland Rowing Club’s Celia Whittam, Samantha Ayers and Nick Cowan were among the rowers representing Great Britain in the championships, contested online this week, racing in real-time against competitors on rowing machines in homes and gyms across the world. The trio qualified for the worlds after picking up medals at Decemberâs British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC).
