HEBRON Church in Cogan is emerging from lockdown under a new roof. 
A few years ago the relatively small but faithful congregation at Hebron Church in Cogan set about raising money to renovate the church building, restoring the original roof with its striking Queens Trusses back in view. 
In the 1980’s a false ceiling was installed to help with heating efficiency. 
This was a practical decision at the time, but as extensive renovations were now necessary, they uncovered and restore the original high ceiling.

Christian social worker Chinimaya Blon ran an orphanage for poor and abandoned children in Dhankuta district of eastern Nepal for five years from 2011-16 until it was shut down following the government’s refusal to renew its license.
She took 14 children to the capital Kathmandu, where pastor Hari Tamang offered them shelter on the premises of his church. ....

Dodd & Co's charity support


Cumbrian accountancy firm Dodd & Co has donated £2,000 to charities instead of sending Christmas cards.
Staff nominated charities they would like to benefit from the donation and Dodd & Co said nominations flooded in, especially as so many charities had gone above and beyond during the pandemic, and all were deserving.
The final four charities chosen were The UK Sepsis Trust; Penrith and Carlisle foodbanks and Hebron Church which provided Christmas hampers for local families facing difficulties.
With COVID-19 restrictions in place and the majority of staff working from home, staff were unable to carry out their usual Christmas activities, including the Doddie Christmas bake-off, festive breakfasts and Santa sandwiches. ....

Jane was born in Dayton, Virginia, in 1939, and attended schools in Arlington and Harrisonburg. After attending James Madison University (then Madison College) during 1957-1958, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Civil Service Commission (Investigations Division), while attending the Strayer School of Business at night (completed Private Secretarial Course in 1960). She then transferred to The Pentagon where she worked for the Navy Department. She met her husband Bill who was in the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia, in 1963; and, two days after their marriage in the Arlington Church of Christ, the couple moved to Alabama. After the birth of their first child, Jane was employed by the U.S. Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base as a secretary-steno for the Consolidated Base Personnel Office and for Air University Personnel. She later transferred to Gunter Air Force Base, where she worked as an editorial assistant for the Extension C ....
