Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Friday’s doubleheader for Scott City would be their stiffest competition of the year. Ellis entered at 10-0 on the year, and have not really been tested. The Railroaders would derail Scott City’s senior day, as they would come up with a pair of road wins at 13-1, and 12-8. Big second quarter propels Lakin past Scott City

Lakin, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–For the second time in 21 days, Scott City would travel to Lakin to face the Broncs. This time around, it was in a win or go home situation. Lakin would take a close game after the first quarter, and blow the game open in the second quarter, thanks to strong defense, en route to a 61-34 win over the Beavers Tuesday night at Lakin Middle School. Scott City would score three seconds into the game for their lone lead of the night at 2-0. After the game was tied at eight, Lakin scored eight straight to build a 16-8 lead with under a minute left in the first quarter. The Beavers got a three-point play to close out the first quarter to make it 16-11. Lakin would dominate the second quarter, starting the first five minutes off with a 20-2 run to build a 38-13 lead. The teams would trade baskets, and it would be 41-17 Broncs at the break.

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City wrapped up a tough week of competition Saturday afternoon, as Wichita Trinity was the third opponent to face the Beaver basketball teams this week. It would be a tough day as well for both Scott City teams, as the Lady Knights came out blazing in the first half with 58 points, en route to a 75-55 win, while the Trinity boys led from the get go, and pulled away for a 56-38 win. Wichita Trinity Girls 75, Scott City 55 Wichita Trinity came in without a win, but had two losses to solid teams in Garden Plain and Liberal. They took out their frustration early and often in the first half, as they raced out to a 24-12 first quarter lead, only to put up 34 second quarter points behind 63 percent shooting, to lead 58-24 lead at the break.
