Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Friday’s doubleheader for Scott City would be their stiffest competition of the year. Ellis entered at 10-0 on the year, and have not really been tested. The Railroaders would derail Scott City’s senior day, as they would come up with a pair of road wins at 13-1, and 12-8.
Ellis 13, Scott City 1, Game 1
Ellis would put the pressure early on and never looked back. After they led 2-0 after the first inning, the Railroaders would tack on three runs in the third, four in the fourth and five in the fifth before Scott City got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Tegan Cain would drive the first three runs in for Ellis, with an RBI groundout in the first and had a two-run single in the third inning. He would score on a fielders choice to push the lead to 4-0. They doubled their run total in the fourth with a pair of two-run doubles by Tyson Jimenez and Easton Burton. Jimenez added another two-run double in the fifth inning, and Cain cleared the bases with a three-run triple to push their lead to 13-0. The Beavers got their lone run in the bottom of the fifth on an Easton Lorg infield single that scored Ryan Cure.
