AFP/File LAHORE: As the passport of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif expires and the government refuses to renew it, the party says it was neither worried about the issue nor discussed it in any recent party meeting as for them ‘it does not exist anymore’. According to the party insiders, who did not want to be named, the party lost interest in the issue for five reasons. Firstly, the government has done whatever it could to bring back Nawaz Sharif and failed – even the PTI government has stopped mentioning the passport issue now. The government tried to create an issue out of it, squeezed temporary political mileage out of it, wrote to the British government and failed. ....

PHOTO: EXPRESS LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday announced Rs2 billion development package for the historic city of Harrapa. The chief minister along with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar visited Harappa on Wednesday and announced development package during a meeting with notables of the area. He highlighted that half of the amount would be used for roads repair while Rs500 million will be used for water supply and sewerage improvement. Similarly, Rs500 million will be spent on construction of overhead bridge and underpass at the railway crossing, he said. ....
11 gamblers rounded up December 22, 2020 Rawalpindi: Police on Monday arrested 11 gamblers and recovered Rs 52,380 cash stake money, 11 mobile phones and other items from their possession. According to a police spokesman, Kotli Sattian police team under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO), acting on a tip-off conducted a raid in its jurisdiction and arrested 11 gamblers namely Salik Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Liaquat Azeem, Zafran, Farhan, Umair Ahmed, Qadeer Ahmed, Nabeel Ahmed, Ubaidullah, Yasir Mehmood and Sabeel Tariq as they were allegedly involved in betting while playing cards. Police recovered Rs52,380 cash stake money, 11 mobile phones and other items from their possession.A case has been registered against all the accused while further investigations are underway, he added. ....
