Hides stored in residential areas creating problems for people July 26, 2021 Rawalpindi: The residents of different localities of the city on Sunday urged the district administration to relocate makeshift animal hides’ godowns from residential areas as they were polluting the environment. Various organisations and businessmen collect hides of sacrificed animals and store them at different sites in the city areas including Jamia Masjid Road, Pir Choha Chowk, Ratta Amral, Ghaznavi Road and most congested areas of the city which are a potential threat for the outbreak of several diseases including dengue. Talking to this agency, Saeed Khan, a resident of Pir Choha said the hides were stored in godowns for several months, polluting the entire environment and were a hurdle in smooth traffic flow. Bike-lifters gang busted, eight motorcycles recovered

July 21, 2021 Rawalpindi:Police have busted two bike-lifter and dacoit gangs and arrested their four members besides recovering eight stolen motorcycles, cash Rs150,000 and other items from their possession. According to a police spokesman, police team under the supervision of SHO Pirwadhai Police Station was constituted which after hectic efforts managed to net two accused namely Umair and Ahmed, who were bike-lifter and dacoit’s gang members and allegedly involved in several cases registered in different police stations. Police recovered four stolen motorcycles, cash Rs150,000 and other items from their possession.In another raid, Ratta Amral police rounded up Ali Haider and Hamza, two bike-lifters and recovered four stolen motorcycles from their possession.

Power cuts test Pindi residents nerves - Newspaper

RAWALPINDI: With temperature rising to 44°C, unannounced power cuts from six to eight hours in the garrison city are testing the nerves of the residents. In a tweet, the Islamabad Electric Supply company (Iesco) said: “Due to gap in demand and supply, power load management of different duration has been started in different areas of Iesco. As soon as situation normalises uninterrupted power supply will be restored.” “This is a temporary phase and will normalise hopefully in a few days,” it further stated. However, the residents feared that the situation would go from bad to worse in coming days. They said frequent power cuts had created acute water shortage in many areas.
