F. Carol (Ammon) Curfman, 78, of Hustontown went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 1, 2021. She died after a vigorous fight with cancer for 15 months. A loving family and friends surrounded her upon her passing. As a youth, attending Church in Lewisburg with her family, Carol connected with God early in life. During her cancer treatment she grew closer to God and shared her belief in Him. For the past 40 years, she has attended the Fairview United Methodist Church.
Carol was born in Lewisburg on Aug. 17, 1942. Her two teen-aged brothers preceded her in death, A. Richard Ammon and Frederic C. Ammon, and father and mother, Keith Otto Ammon and Florence Kathryn Ammon. Of her immediate family, her sister, Linda K. Ammon of Lancaster, PA, survives her. ....

A fried finger food, wild onion cicada nibblers, features the bug-eyed insects.
The first reports of Pennsylvanians spotting emerged Brood X, 17-year periodical cicadas began to surface in the past few days, not just the holes from which they are about to emerge or some of the grubs under a log someone moved, but actual cicadas on the sides of trees or shrubs.
The singing or buzzing, which usually follows emergence by 5 days or so, will begin this week in many spots throughout central Pennsylvania. ....
