Duncan, who was presented for induction by Michael Jordan, said Blucas helped convince Wake Forest’s coaching staff to keep him on the active roster and not redshirt him when he was a freshman. Blucas reportedly said, “Tim can help us now,” and he was exactly right. • Congratulations to Keith Nies, supervisor of special education for the Fairview School District, who recently received his PhD. Nies, the former Cathedral Prep basketball star who had a successful run as Fairview’s head basketball coach, keeps moving up the ladder among area school administrators. The Chautauqua County Sheriff s Office says David Byler, 46, of Middlefield Ohio was in a wooded area off Klondike Rd. in the Town of Ripley when one of the trees he was cutting fell on him. Byler was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital then airlifted to Hamot Hospital in Pennsylvania where he succumbed to him injuries Sunday afternoon. ....
An Ohio man has been killed in a logging accident in Ripley. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a logging accident at 9:21 a.m. Saturday on Klondike Road in Ripley to help Ripley volunteer firefighters. David Byler, 46, of Middlefield, Ohio, was about a half of a mile back in a wooded area cutting trees and, while doing so, had a tree fall on him. Ripley and South Ripley firefighters responded along with Chautauqua County EMS. Byler was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital and air lifted to Hamot Hospital in Pennsylvania. Byler died on Sunday.
