A construction company from Pune has been entrusted the task to lay the track for a toy bullet train at Mahatma Gandhi park in Hubballi. HUBBALLI: Soon a toy bullet train will run on the tracks of Mahatma Gandhi Park. The laying of tracks by a construction company from Pune, commenced for the much-anticipated toy train project under the Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City project. The Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) planned the project. Due to the lockdown and transportation issues, the work was delayed, but it has now gained momentum. The company is laying tracks up to a distance of 950m. The train is designed like modern bullet trains, with curved single glass wind screen and front rolling LED screen. The train will have 2 engines and four bogies, and will be able to seat 16 people in each bogie. It will be air conditioned, have audio and visual systems, CCTV cameras, automatic doors, solar roof tops and other amenities. ....

HUBBALLI: Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation’s decision to drop the idea of laying synthetic athletic track in Nehru Stadium has not gone down well with the city’s sport enthusiasts. Sports enthusiasts are alleging that HDMC has dropped the project yielding to pressure from politicians. While the government is encouraging students to take part in sports activities by introducing Khelo India programme in all schools, the HDMC is trying to discourage sports enthusiasts from taking part in sports, they alleged. Speaking to STOI, 15-year-old Arjun, whois preparing for Khelo India School games said, “I am deeply hurt with the decision of authorities. We do not have suitable infrastructure to prepare for athletic events here”. ....
