Several graduations set for this week The Monroe News Several area schools will hold graduation ceremonies this week. Jefferson High School will hold its graduation at 6 tonight on the Marc L. Cisco Alumni Football Field. The rain dates are Thursday and Friday. Families will sit in pods and masks are required. Each senior received seven tickets; the maximum audience is 1,000. Graduating are 124 students. Speaking will be the school’s eight valedictorians, one salutatorian, Superintendent S. Michael Petty and principals Dave Vensel (retired) and Millie J. Grow (interim). The valedictorians are Thomas Boggs, Madison Dennis, Nicholas Jablonski, Sarah Johnson, Brooke Lavoie, Kline Peare, Shea Peare and William Robinson. ....

May 6, 2021 3:33 pm The Rabbit Hole Bakery said its been even busier than it was before the pandemic. “We never really had to turn people away before until now,” front house manager Hannah Petty said. “We’ve had to turn a lot of people away recently. Normally we need about a few days notice, but now it’s been like a week or two.” The bakery is getting around 15 orders every weekend. They’ve had to adjust to the increase in orders to make sure they don’t fall behind. Petty said bakers will put in late-nights to get orders completed. She attributes the increase in business to loosened restrictions and people getting more comfortable leaving their homes. ....

SFMO Honors Chattanooga Firefighter And Family For Response During Rutherford County I-24 Shooting Incident Tuesday, April 13, 2021 The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office recognize the heroism displayed by Chattanooga Fire Department Captain Brad Petty (Engine 9, Green Shift), his daughter, Hannah Petty, and his son, Kanan Petty, on March 6, while providing medical assistance to a motorist who had been severely injured during a roadway shooting incident along Interstate 24. TDCI Assistant Commissioner for Fire Prevention Gary Farley presented a plaque along with recognition from Governor Bill Lee to Captain Petty and his family during a ceremony on Monday April 12 in Chattanooga. ....
