With the passage of 9 years of negotiations, talks, and mediation attempts, differences still exist between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan over the Renaissance Dam and the timetable for filling the dam, with mutual accusations of infringing on sovereignty and threatening the lives of millions.
Talks stalled again last week amid the three countries differences overfilling the dam. The most recent controversy was last July, when satellite images from the US-based Maxar Technology showed water gathering in the GERD reservoir, prompting Egyptian officials to seek urgent clarification.
