The Lawrence Township Planning Board approved a four-month extension to Oct. 15 for final site plan approval for the fitness center, which was granted to Lawrence Shopping Center Associates LLC in September 2018. The resolution, which was approved by the Lawrence Township Planning Board at its June 21 meeting, states that “the applicant has been unable to begin construction on the LA Fitness Center as a result of delays due to the declared state and local emergency arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.” ....

That’s the word from Lidl spokesman Chandler Ebeier. Work on the Lidl grocery store has begun to pick up in the last few months. The blue and yellow “Lidl” corporate sign has been installed above the main entrance, which is a glass-enclosed lobby. Renovation work has occurred in spurts since demolition on the vacant space began in August 2020. The former ACME grocery store space had been empty since 2018, when the store’s lease expired at the shopping center at 2495 Brunswick Pike. ....
