Madison Czopek Feb 3, 2021 Facing an onslaught of calls, backlash online and several members of the public who voiced frustrations at the Feb. 2 Board of Selectmen’s Meeting, the town will reevaluate its new trash plan to see if the cost can be reduced for some individuals. In the coming days, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan will look at ways the trash plan can be reconfigured to allow some groups namely seniors, seasonal residents or those with other means of trash disposal to receive discounts or special arrangements. Sullivan explained that during negotiations with the curbside hauler, the town will save $125,000 in the first year, and the Selectmen asked him to propose different approaches for what to do with the savings. ....

Plans for the proposed 93-unit housing development at Littleton Drive continue to evolve following input from locals and town officials, according to Charlie Adams, the regional vice president of the developer Pennrose. Most notably, the plans now include an additional emergency access roads at the request of the Wareham Fire Department, Adams and his team told members of Wareham’s Planning Board during their Dec. 11 meeting. The Littleton Drive complex would include 44 affordable one-bedroom senior units and 49 non-age restricted rental units for families and people in the workforce. Madison Czopek Dec 21, 2020 A New Bedford man was arrested in Wareham and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property in excess of $1,200 after Wareham Police recovered car that had been reported stolen from a person’s driveway in Swifts Beach on Friday, Dec. 18. On Friday morning at about 9:20 a.m., Wareham Police responded to a Swifts Beach address for a report of a vehicle that had been stolen from a person’s driveway, according to a police department press release. Officer Malik Wilkes spoke to the person who reported the car stolen. The person said that they had their car on while it was unlocked and running so it could warm up in the driveway. However, within a few minutes of the person going back inside the house, they noticed the car had been stolen. A report about the stolen vehicle was filed and all officers were advised to be on the lookout for the vehicle, according to the press release. ....
Wicked Local WAREHAM – Wareham Police arrested a New Bedford man Friday for stealing a car that was warming up in a resident’s driveway in Swift’s Beach. Wareham Police responded to an address in Swifts Beach for a report of a vehicle that had just been stolen from a person’s driveway Friday morning, Dec. 18, at about 9:20 a.m., police said. Officer Malik Wilkes spoke to the reporting party who said that they had their car on, unlocked and warming up in the driveway, police said. The person said that they went back into the house and within a few minutes noticed that it had been stolen.
