A total of 161 high school seniors made the list, which features honors celebrating academia, arts, and technical education. Three of the seniors attend Metro Detroit schools while two others came from other parts of the state. The 2021 Presidential Scholars represent extraordinary achievements for our extraordinary times, said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. Their examples make me proud and hopeful about the future. The computer programming competition and workshop designed to introduce more girls to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The all-girls programming contest and workshop featured students in grades six through 12 and included more than 300 students and teachers from a total of 47 middle schools and high schools from across the region. The Feb. 13 virtual competition was presented by the Dallas Fort Worth Computer Science Teachers Association. ....
