Donald L. Weber 1941 - 2021

Donald L. Weber, age 79, formally of Cohasset, MN passed away Friday April 30, 2021 at his home in Waconia, MN.
Don was born in 1941 to Roy and Lydia Weber in Springfield, MN. He grew up on a farm with his parents and two brothers, was active in FFA, and played baseball and basketball for his high school teams. Don was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He graduated from Sanborn High School in 1959 and Mankato State College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Don was united in marriage to his high school friend and classmate Jeanette Luck on January 26, 1963 at Red Rock EUB Church. They resided in Mankato, Bloomington, Alexandria, Madison (SD), Hill City, Cohasset and Waconia. After moving to Cohasset in 2004 they settled into their retirement home on the golf course at Sugarbrooke Estates and quickly found they were blessed to have many neighbors who became wonderful friends and golf buddies. ....

NH faces skilled worker shortage, exposing high schoolers to trades

HAMPTON – Kevin Hart, of Hart Plumbing and Heating, says there are plenty of opportunities for a young person looking to have a successful and rewarding career in the trades.
The Seacoast-based company, owned by his brother, is always on the hunt for skilled workers and is consistently busy with non-emergency appointments scheduled four to six weeks out.
“We have 14 guys and those 14 guys can work overtime whenever they want to work overtime,” Hart said. “That s how busy we are.”
With the average licensed electrician and master plumber aged 55 in New Hampshire, the state is facing a skilled worker shortage as a generation of tradesmen gets ready to retire. And homeowners, Martin said, are already starting to see the impact with higher prices for service and long wait times if it’s a non-emergency. ....

Book features closed N'West Iowa schools

REGIONALâChuck Comstock of Sanborn took a step back in time to help Cedar Falls author James Kenyon write about the former Sanborn High School.
Comstock, who is 75, was one of a group of 14 Sanborn High School graduates and local historians whose memories of growing up and going to school in Sanborn are recorded in Kenyonâs latest book âEchoes in the Hallways: History and Recollections of 102 Closed Iowa High Schools.â
The book, published Jan. 29 by Meadowlark Books of Emporia, KS, is a collection of stories from former students of closed Iowa high schools from all 99 counties.
Comstock, who graduated in 1963 from Sanborn High School, and the others were interviewed by Kenyon in April 2019 when they swapped stories of favorite teachers, school dances and other traditions that ended with Sanborn High School consolidated with Hartley-Melvin School District in 1991. ....
