Apr 17, 2021 Ronald D. Reed, 82, of Findley Lake, N.Y., formerly of Sherman, N.Y., died Sunday April 11, 2021, at home. Ron was born Feb, 2, 1939 in Jamestown, son of the late Norvel T. Reed, Sr. and Eunice Harmelink Reed. The year Ronnie was born, his dad, Norvel, and Lee Buesink formed a partnership and opened the Livestock Auction Salebarn on Route 430 in Sherman, N.Y., where he was brought up in the cattle business. In 1940, his parents opened a meat market on Main Street in Sherman and Ronnie was in charge of preparing the chickens to sell. At the age of 11, Ronnie bought his first cow and at the age of 14, he was so busy dealing in cattle that he had to hire a driver to get him from farmer to farmer. ....
Mar 8, 2021 Edwina May (Hancox) Finn, of Garland, P.A., formerly of Sherman, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Friday March 5, 2021. Edwina was born Sept. 13, 1944 in Oil City, P.A., the daughter of Gregory J. and Alice (Holt) Hancox. On Dec. 23, 1961 she married Larry Finn, who passed away April 24, 2011. A nature lover at heart, she enjoyed hiking and long walks outdoors. She was a bird lover and most importantly she passed this passion of nature on to her children and grandchildren. As a homemaker, a roll she truly relished, she enjoyed cooking, baking and knitting. Above all she was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. ....

Jan 11, 2021 Martha “Marty” Gabor LaRose, 86, of Findley Lake, N.Y., passed away in her sleep on Jan. 7, 2021. Marty was born in Ambridge, Pa. on Sept. 28, 1934, and grew up in Ambridge, graduating from Ambridge High School in 1952. She married Donald LaRose and moved to the “Little Pink House Down the Hill” in Findley Lake in June of 1955. Marty was initially a stay at home mom, Brownie, Girl Scout and Cadet Leader, and athletics coordinator, and an avid boater, fisher and skier. After her daughter graduated, Marty graduated from Jamestown Community College in Business Administration. Marty worked a number of jobs as a Stenographer, Transcriptionist, and in Food Preparation before returning to her love of sewing, and worked as a Seamstress in New York and Pennsylvania. ....
