Wilton Fire Chief Don Nourse said Wednesday that the homeowner of 10 Stoney Brook Drive was home, noticed the fire coming from the detached garage, and alerted the department at about 12:30 p.m. Nourse called for a second alarm for manpower, as the Wilton Fire Department is mainly a volunteer force with a limited ability to respond to daytime fires. When crews arrived, the fire had broken through one of the eaves of the garage. Nourse said crews were “fairly quickly” able to bring the fire under control and douse it. The garage, which did have a vehicle in it at the time of the fire, according to Nourse, has water and smoke damage, with moderate damage from the flames.
