The May 2021 drive of the Get the Site Right campaign, which enforces best practice on jobsites to ensure waterways remain clean, has found that there is more work to be done in educating builders and renovators on the importance of essential erosion and sediment controls in order to prevent runoff entering our waterways.
Supported by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), 21 councils across Sydney and the Hunter Coast took part in the month-long campaign. Officers inspected 762 sites with 67 of those found to be compliant.
While the results show a 7 percent reduction in compliance from the October campaign, relaxed COVID-19 restrictions and an additional 166 sites inspected in May compared to October accounts for the reduction.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has fined the Bowral Waste Centre Pty Ltd $15,000 for alleged poor landfill management practices, likely to have contributed to offensive odours.
Residents living near the Kiama Street waste centre in Bowral have complained to the EPA about offensive ‘rotten egg’ odours since late May this year.
During the most recent inspection on 18 June 2021 EPA officers also detected the odours.
“During the inspection EPA officers observed a large area of uncovered waste at the south western corner of the landfill,” EPA Executive Director Steve Beaman said.
“The company’s licence requires exposed waste to be covered at the end of each day. This requirement reduces the chance that odours can escape offsite and impact nearby homes and businesses.

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) The Kiwanis and Vincennes Parks and Recreation Department’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday in Gregg Park, 2204 Washington Ave.
Last year, the pandemic allowed no eggs to be discovered. It was really the first thing that we had to cancel because of the pandemic rightfully so but now spring is coming, Steve Beaman, Vincennes Parks and Rec superintendent, said. You can hear the birds out here, even though it s a little cool today, but we re really looking forward to it.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with the hunt following at 11:00 a.m. Children will be divided into four age groups and prizes will be given out after the hunt.
