Suit alleges neglect led to nursing home patient's death

BELLEVILLE A suit against a Monroe County nursing and rehab facility alleges a patient suffered numerous falls out of her wheelchair, gangrene and neglect, leading to her death.
Jeremiah Campbell, executor of the Estate of Diann M. Campbell, deceased, filed a complaint April 15 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center LLC, doing business as Integrity Healthcare of Columbia, alleging neglect, negligence and wrongful death.
According to the plaintiff s complaint, Diann Campbell was admitted to Integrity on Sept. 4, 2017. The plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 10, 2019, and Sept. 13, 2019, Diann Campbell fell out of her wheelchair. Then on May 31, 2020, Campbell fell out of her wheelchair again while in the bathroom and struck her head. The plaintiff alleges that while a resident at Integrity, Diann Campbell had medical conditions on her left lower extrem ....

Suit alleges woman fell out of wheelchair at rehab facility, suffered fatal brain injury

BELLEVILLE A Belleville healthcare and rehab facility is facing a wrongful death claim after a patient allegedly suffered a fatal traumatic brain injury when she fell out of her wheelchair.
Lucille Gibbs, independent administrator of the Estate of Joyce Riley, filed a complaint Dec. 3 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Belleville Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center Inc., doing business as BRIA Health Services of Belleville. alleging negligence and wrongful death.
According to Gibbs complaint, Joyce Riley was admitted to BRIA s facility in Belleville on Nov. 2, 2018, and was assessed as a patient with a high risk for falls. Gibbs alleges that on Dec. 16, 2018, Riley fell out of her wheelchair while being left unattended in her room and had to be transferred to St. Elizabeth s Hospital in O Fallon. She was treated for traumatic brain injury, including a subdural hematoma, and then transferred to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for additional treatmen ....
