A powerful Indian-American doctors’ group has initiated talks with the Canadian government to urgently donate to India as many as 5,000 ventilators that it had purchased last year at the peak of their Covid-19 wave and are now unused.
Dr Sudhakar Jonnalagadda, president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, said: “We re working with Canada and the government. They have about 5,000 ventilators.
It is with the Red Cross of Canada. We are urging the Canadian Government to donate this to India through the Red Cross to address the current Covid-19 crisis,” he told PTI in an interview. ....

Ruchika Talwar, a 28-year-old resident at the University of Pennsylvania, said she and a group of area physicians have raised almost $500,000 in one week to help send supplies directly to state-run hospitals in India that are in dire need.
The country’s Covid-19 crisis has surpassed its peak, experiencing the world’s worst outbreak, with new cases staying well above 300,000 every day and continuously breaking the record for the highest single-day figure globally. ....

Amazon stepped into an unexpected public relations mess recently when company officials claimed that its workers would never have to resort to urinating in bottles.
The absurdity of the situation came to a head last week after evidence quickly emerged that Amazon delivery drivers not to mention Uber, UPS and FedEx drivers  
do in fact regularly relieve themselves while on the go. In a rare apology issued late Friday night, Amazon apologized for its snarky tweets and pledged to address what it called a “long-standing, industry-wide issue.” ....
