Donald Wayne Richmond


Cmdr. Donald Wayne Richmond, USNR Ret., 89, Mason Dixon Road, Gettysburg, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
He was born July 15, 1931, in Armstrong, Iowa, the son of the late Wayne and Bernice Pruell Richmond. Donald is survived by his wife Marilyn Thompson-Richmond; a son, Timothy W. Richmond of Gettysburg; a daughter-in-law, Jodi Richmond of Littlestown; two grandchildren, Heather Hamilton and Scott Richmond; two sisters, Barbara Tolsdorf of Lebanon, Missouri, and Dolores Schnittjer of Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Rossiter Richmond; and a son, Terry S. Richmond.
As an Iowa farm boy, working in the fields, he would look up at the airplanes flying overhead, often wondering where they were going and how wonderful it must be. At the same time in World War II, his uncle was flying in B-17s in the Pacific, which increased his motivation to be one of them. His 15th birthday gift from his parents wa ....

LIVERMORE Selectpersons unanimously voted Tuesday to hold the annual Town Meeting by referendum ballot a week after some favored holding an open meeting. A decision on the style and date of Town Meeting was to be made at the April 26 meeting.

“I’ve had a lot of conversations with people and they all seem to want to go to a referendum style meeting, at least again this year,” Selectperson Brett Deyling said. “People don’t think it will be representative of the town if we have a traditional meeting because people will be scared to go.”

Livermore board to decide town meeting format April 26

LIVERMORE Selectpersons decided Monday to wait until April 26 to determine the format of the annual Town Meeting.
Aaron Miller, administrative assistant to selectpersons, said selectpersons have the right to determine whether to have an open meeting or vote at the polls.
Under the governor’s order, notice must be given at least 30 days before the annual Town Meeting referendum, which would be May 8 if it was held June 9 or 10, he said. A public hearing is required 10 days before the meeting and the warrant must be posted seven days before the meeting, he noted.
“The traditional time is 60 or more days,” Miller noted. “I don’t know how long this Executive Order is going to last.” ....

B’nai B’rith International CEO Daniel Mariaschin called it “a cheap shot at Jewish customs” that plays into “blood libel” stereotypes, while the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s (SWC) associate dean and director of global social action Rabbi Abraham Cooper expressed outrage and frustration that in the media “no one else is fair game except our community.”
Their anger was directed at NBC, which has received significant backlash in the Jewish community for airing programming on two recent occasions that has been labeled by many as promoting “classic anti-Semitic tropes.” ....
