Nearly 100 people have been charged in connection with the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Court documents tell us a lot about who the pro-Trump ....
Arlington is continuing its final preparations for a presidential inauguration unlike any other. In wake of the U.S. Capitol riots and a still-raging pandemic (though, cases are currently on a downward trajectory), tomorrow’s inauguration of President Joe Biden will be a scaled-down and highly militarized affair. A number of bridges connecting Arlington to D.C. are either completely shut down or have significantly altered traffic patterns. Memorial Bridge is now closed through Thursday morning at 6 a.m. D.C.-bound lanes on the Roosevelt Bridge and the 14th Street Bridge will also be closed until Thursday morning, but lanes leaving the city “will flow normally” according to a Metropolitan Police Department traffic advisory. There are also a host of D.C. road closures. ....
Image from: cnn.com I can t stand Mike Pence, but at least you can count on him for some basic vice-presidenting, and considering his evangelical base, it was a good thing for him to get public vaccinated this morning. At least some of his people who wouldn t consider it will rethink their positions, thanks to him. (And God knows, I ve never said that before!) “I didn’t feel a thing,” Pence says after getting his coronavirus vaccine. pic.twitter.com/Lt6ocSoL78 WATCH: The moment Vice President Pence, second lady Karen Pence and Surgeon General Jerome Adams publicly receive their COVID-19 vaccine shots https://t.co/plzKpT9bWqpic.twitter.com/Mlo1dDX6Vo ....

If you haven’t been following it, this post will catch you up. It’s enough here to say that whether McConnell can prevent any members of his caucus from objecting to the results in swing states is a less interesting question right now than how many Senate Republicans might end up objecting once one does. All it takes is one objection to force a floor vote on whether to accept a state’s electoral votes, remember. If Tuberville is committed to objecting or if Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue feel obliged to object in order to shore up righty support for their runoff races then there’s no point in 2024 hopefuls staying on the sidelines. A Ted Cruz or Josh Hawley might be willing to play ball with McConnell and hold their objections in order to spare ....
(AP Photo/Brennan Linsley, File) (CN) In announcing Tuesday it will give the public access to noteworthy cases via audio livestream, the federal court system will move a few rungs closer to the 21st century at least in 13 districts. These livestreams will be available on the courts’ designated YouTube channels in real-time, the U.S. Courts said Tuesday. “While the pilot temporarily suspends a prohibition on broadcasting federal court proceedings in the designated courts, the livestreams may not be recorded or rebroadcast,” the federal judiciary said. The Judicial Conference of the United States adopted a prohibition against “broadcasting, televising, recording, or taking photographs in the courtroom and areas immediately adjacent thereto” in 1972 for both criminal and civil cases. ....
