Beginning Monday, April 19, the Falls Bridge, located on Route 175, will be closed during the daytime to traffic for about four days, while New England Boring Contractors conducts geotechnical explorations of the site, according to Shawna Ambrose, Blue Hill town administrator.
“This work will require that the bridge be closed during daylight drilling operations, which will be between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,” Ambrose said during the April 5 select board meeting. The Maine Department of Transportation “will be installing variable message boards starting Monday, April 12, to alert motorists to the bridge closure and detour route along Route 172. New England Boring Contractors will be setting up and removing the detour/bridge closure signage daily.” ....

Voters here during a special town meeting Feb. 17 approved a moratorium on solar development. The vote was held by secret ballot. The moratorium provides the town time to amend its Land Use Ordinance to include provisions for solar facilities.
Town Administrator Shawna Ambrose said the vote was 114-30. Sixty residents voted by absentee ballot.
Blue Hill has received one application for a solar farm. Borrego Solar, doing business as Blue Hill Solar, proposes a solar farm on the York Road in East Blue Hill. The Planning Board Nov. 9 found the application incomplete. ....

BLUE HILL The town of Blue Hill is looking for a new town clerk and tax collector to replace Etta Perkins, who served the town for 26 years.
“We have accepted Etta’s retirement effective 1/15 and will respect her wishes to not discuss it further,” Town Administrator Shawna Ambrose stated in an email.
Ambrose has appointed Deputy Town Clerk Lyndsey Dow to serve as interim town clerk.

BLUE HILL The town of Blue Hill intends to present voters with a solar farm moratorium at a special town meeting on a date yet to be determined, according to town officials.
Blue Hill has received one application from Borrego Solar, doing business as Blue Hill Solar, which proposes a solar farm on the York Road in East Blue Hill, said Code Enforcement Officer Judy Jenkins. The Planning Board Nov. 9 found the application incomplete.
Jenkins said the selectmen have reviewed a first draft of the proposed solar moratorium and are awaiting revisions. Drummond Woodsum attorneys at law is doing the work. ....
