Police released documents from their completed investigation Thursday after an open records request from The Associated Press. The bodies of the mayor and her daughter were found by police at their home after Jayne Peters did not show up to a July 13 City Council meeting. According to police, Corinne Peters was seen for the last time on July 12 around 6 a.m. loading items into her car. About 30 minutes later, the mayor was seen unloading the items, police said. Police said that sometime in that 30-minute period, Jayne Peters shot her daughter in the laundry room. They said it was hard to establish the exact time of death for the mayor but that she killed herself late that evening or in the early morning hours of July 13. She had taken a pillow, blanket and book about coping with suicide into the upstairs bathroom where she killed herself. Photos of her husband and daughter were inserted in the book. ....

Now the emphasis is on saving every animal regardless of behavior or condition. Shelters became the enemy and emphasis was taken off holding pet owners responsible and placed on clearing the shelters. This opened the world of rescue as not just as a humane act but as a full-time job. Mayor Garcetti approved all the steps to allow rescue kennels in residential zoning and release of shelter animals to unmonitored individuals/groups with no requirement for experience with animals, no background check, no training or license required. Baldwin, founder of Save Them Dog Training and co-founder of Underdog Alliance was originally taken into custody on July 24, 2020, by the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department and held for arraignment on 42 felony and misdemeanor charges 13 of which involve animal cruelty. All stem from alleged criminal activities in Ohio and California. Baldwin was a hero among No Kill advocates. When Los Angeles Animal Services GM Brenda Barnette, announced the 2018 opening of Weingart Center for the homeless and their pets on downtown LA s Skid Row, the LA Times stated that Steffan Baldwin had been selected as the dog trainer for the facility. ....
