Panama City cat found nearly 3 years after Hurricane Michael

PANAMA CITY  Malachi, a 4-year-old Egyptian Mau cat, always had loved to be in high places, which made his rescue home in the once-canopied Cove the perfect start of a new life when he was adopted at 6 months old, a month before Hurricane Michael blew through the area.  “He loved to run up in a tree as far as he can get,” said his owner, Sharon McDonald. “Because he was born in a box, he loved being outside. He loved his freedom.”  But just as the canopy disappeared in the Cove following the Category 5 hurricane, so went the speckled silver and black large cat. It would be almost three years until the indoor-outdoor feline was found.
