Lahore CCPO orders vigilance around crime hotspots Violent crimes increased while police focused on combating land mafia in recent months LAHORE: An increase in incidents of crime and violence in the provincial capital has apparently pushed the top brass of Lahore police to focus on their primary role after spending recent months in combating land grabbing and gun display. CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar directed senior officers on Tuesday to improve patrolling and focus on the crime hotspots, including areas from Mahmood Booti to Shera Kot, along the Ravi river, Sundar Industrial Estate, Burki, Manawan and remote villages as well as suburbs to control crimes. ....

Shariq Jamal said that the victim Qari Asif was murdered few days back in Shalimar and Police have arrested the suspect Ashraf Usman. He had relationship with the victim’s wife. Both wanted to contract marriage. Asif’s wife had demanded divorce many a times earlier and after the failure, they hatched a plan to remove him from the scene. This was disclosed by Lahore DIG Investigations Shariq Jamal during a press conference at his office on Thursday. Jamal said police had arrested three suspects, Atta Ullah, Mussawar Iqbal and Muhammad Naveed, in the case. The investigation had revealed that they had befriended the victim, a resident of Raiwind, during online interaction but their relationship had soured, he added.
