LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed a lockdown in seven more areas of the city after they reported a surge in coronavirus cases. A notification was issued with directions to the district and police authorities to seal the localities to stop the movement of people and business activities as per the standard operating procedures. The lockdown was proposed in some localities of Askari 10, Defence Phase II and III, Sarwar Colony, and Fazal Park of Shadbagh. In the notification, the Punjab government has also directed the police to make sure the local shops, traders and markets observe time restrictions to curtail the virus. The government was of the viewthat the lockdown was imposed following reports submitted by medical and health experts regarding rapid spread of the virus in the above-mentioned localities. ....

Residents of Depalpur chowk, Faisal Park. Sabir Pia Town and Railway Road organised a protest rally against the MC Administrator Okara and Chief Officer for not resolving civic issues of their areas since long. Amir Munna, Rao Nadeem and Wajdaanur Rahman and others led the rally and at Okara Press Club the participants raised slogans against authorities concerned. Shariq Jamal said that the victim Qari Asif was murdered few days back in Shalimar and Police have arrested the suspect Ashraf Usman. He had relationship with the victim’s wife. Both wanted to contract marriage. Asif’s wife had demanded divorce many a times earlier and after the failure, they hatched a plan to remove him from the scene.
