The Madison County Board’s Grants Committee last week discussed several proposed changes, including adding territory, extending tax abatement time periods to 10 from four years and including residential development. Enterprise zones offer incentives to developers, primarily in the form of property and sales tax incentives, investment tax credit, machinery and equipment sales tax exemptions and a utility tax exemption.

Doris Turner, D-Springfield, held their first traveling office hour this week to launch a program she intends to make permanent. “Traveling office hours are a great opportunity to talk with a member of my staff in a town near you about any problems or questions you may have,” Turner said. “It’s my top priority to serve as a resource for all of you to ensure community needs are met.” Traveling office hours will include the first and third Wednesdays of the month, 9 a.m. to noon, in the Carlinville City Hall Council Chambers, 550 N. Homeless man charged with damaging amphitheater Scott Cousins, scousins@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail EDWARDSVILLE A homeless man faces felony charges after allegedly causing more than $10,000 damage to the electrical breaker boxes at the Liberty Bank Amphitheater in Alton. Steven J. Jackson, 44, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged March 1 with criminal damage to state supported property over $10,000, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Feb. 23 Jackson did more than $10,000 damage to the electrical breaker boxes at the Liberty Bank Amphitheater. Bail was set at $50,000. Other felony cases filed March 1 by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office include:

Worden couple admit meth trafficking crimes

BILLINGS — A Worden couple admitted methamphetamine trafficking charges after drug task force investigators found 10 pounds of meth in their vehicle, Acting U.S. Attorney Leif Johnson said. Lisa Marie Fish, 39, pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute meth. Fish’s husband, Bo Bryan Fish, 40, pleaded guilty on Jan. 27 to possession with intent to distribute meth. Each faces a mandatory minimum 10 years to life in prison, a $10 million fine and at least five years of supervised release. U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters presided. Lisa Fish was released pending further proceedings. A sentencing date was set for June 16.
