Selectmen Chair Brett Zografos, who supports flying the flag year-round, said it all started when the town received a hate-filled homophobic email in January. That sparked him to consider the show of town-wide support for the LGBTQ community, he said. And Selectman candidate Jenn Duczkowski has also taken a public stance in favor of flying the flag year-round as a way to show “the welcoming nature of the community” though not necessarily at Town Hall. But other residents have voiced opposition to flying the flag at all, including Carrie-Anne Millette, who told the Gazette she believes the American flag represents everyone. ....

Selectmen decided at their Jan. 25 meeting to send the idea to the town s Human Rights Committee for recommendations, not only on whether flying the flag on town property would be a good idea but also for a flag policy to regulate such proposals in the future.
