Attorneys for Coryell County and its sheriffâs department are asking a federal judge to dismiss an excessive force lawsuit that was filed by a Copperas Cove man last month. Samuel Ramirez is demanding monetary damages after he says he was the victim of excessive force during an encounter between himself and unnamed deputies of the sheriffâs department in 2019, according to a federal civil rights lawsuit that was filed on April 26 in U.S. District Court, Western District of Texas in Austin. No hearings have been set in the case. Allegations In his 10-page complaint, Ramirez alleges that a deputy assaulted him on April 30, 2019, when he was at his home in Cove.
