The Silver Shield Association of Greenwich sent out its endorsement Tuesday for Fazio in the three-way race to finish the term of Alex Kasser, who resigned in late June. The union cited his opposition to the police accountability act signed into law last summer in Connecticut after nationwide protests over the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers. Older Americans Month 2021 Proclamation Whereas, May is recognized nationally as Older Americans Month and this year’s theme is Communities of Strength; and Whereas, May is also Adult Abuse Prevention Month in the Commonwealth of Virginia; and Whereas, in Fairfax County, while recognizing the vitality of the county’s older adults, we also recognize that vulnerable older adults need protection from physical, mental, and financial abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Whereas, during fiscal year 2020, Fairfax County APS received 3,094 reports of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation, a nearly 15 percent increase from the previous year; and Whereas, older adults have also been the most vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus, which led to significant increases in social isolation and loneliness for older adults, which we are working to reduce with initiatives in the Older Adults COVID-19 Response Plan; and ....
That morning sun was low in the sky and not the best for picture taking but still very pretty. The trail led me on. I soon got a sneak peek at Illilouette Fall.
There were a few spots with water running down the trail but nothing I couldn’t step on strategic rocks or pieces of wood to get over. I followed the sign to Illilouette Fall.
And I could hear the roar of Illilouette Fall long before I reached a spot off of a short side trail with the best view of Illilouette Fall. When you actually reach the fall, you can’t see any of the drop, so the best views are from a ways back. ....
