KDHE Mobile Hepatitis and COVID Vaccination Lab Returning to Hutchinson From News Reports KDHE’s mobile lab will be back in Hutchinson for the next four Wednesdays to administer COVID-19 and Hepatitis A vaccines, along with rapid COVID testing. The first 30 individuals to receive a vaccine each day will receive a $15 meal coupon for Applebee’s in Hutchinson. No appointment is needed, limit one coupon a month. The lab will set up at the Salvation Army, 700 N. Walnut Street, Hutchinson, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 14, 21, 28, and Aug. 4. All services are free and confidential.   “We are excited to team up with the Thrive Corporation to offer a meal at Applebee’s,” said Reno County Health Department Director Karla Nichols. “COVID is still a threat in our community, especially with the rise of Delta variant cases in Kansas. Vaccinating is still the best line of defense we have right now.”

Happy new year: First baby welcomed Cyril Russell McPherson Hospital  announced this week McPherson’s first baby for 2021. Piper Naomi Kaufmann, daughter of Audrey and Jordan Kaufmann of McPherson, was born Sunday, January 3 at 12:32 a.m., just missing her due date by 32 minutes. The delivering physician was Dr. Alicia Chennell. Piper has an 18 month old brother Jack, also born at McPherson Hospital in June of 2019. Audrey said, “We had such a great experience with Jack, it was easy for us to come back here for our daughter. All the nurses take such excellent care of us.” Piper and Jack come from a long line of family members from both sides who were born at McPherson Hospital. In fact, new year babies also run in the family. Two of Jordan’s sisters had new year babies, one at McPherson Hospital in 2014 and another in 2016 in Harvey County.

COVID-19 testing is free and available Monday through Saturday

WellHealth was chosen to administer the tests as part of the Governor’s statewide testing initiative. One site will be in the parking lot south of the Kansas Cosmosphere, 1100 N Plum St,. Those seeking tests are asked to enter from the Plum Street entrance. The second site will be located at Simply Good Overstocks, 401 N. Main St, South Hutchinson. Both sites will operate from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There will be no testing on December 24, 25 or Jan. 1. Because of the two new sites, the Reno County Health Department has suspended further testing at the fairground’s location.
