It was a special reunion between baby Ayat Aisha Ali and one of the first responders who helped in the delivery of the baby as Tropical Cyclone Ana wreaked havoc in Fiji.
Ayat is also known as Ana to her family to signify her arrival into this world.
Police Constable Levitu Salauca was deployed to the Tavua Muslim School evacuation centre when she received word that Ayat’s mother Sinu Bibi needed urgent assistance. ....

Permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) have been urged to pursue a cohesive global response to address threats to international peace and security arising from the climate crisis.
The call was made by Fiji’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Satyendra Prasad while speaking at the UN Security Council’s Open Debate on  “Peace and Security implications of the Climate Crisis” convened last week. ....

DAMAGE caused by Tropical Cyclone Ana earlier this year to Ratu Cakobau Park has forced organisers to shift the anticipated Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s to May.
Tournament organiser Jone Turaganiqali said because of the works continuing at Ratu Cakobau Park and the tight deadline the tournament would be held in Suva.
“The new venue is Bidesi and Buckhurst grounds and it will be held in Suva on Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29,” Turaganiqali said. ....
