Updated 3/6/2021 1:12 AM Tuesday, March 9, will be the first Dine & Share #GivingTuesday for Preservation and Atlas Chicken Shack in downtown Geneva. The two restaurants are launching a monthly program that highlights a different local charity each month.
In addition to special events and offerings, a percentage of every Tuesday s sales will go to the non-profit. We not only want to support local organizations that are in current need, we also want to give non-profits the opportunity to educate our community on what they do and the type of help they could use, says Jason Oles, bartender at Preservation and founder of the program. ....

The Forest Preserves of Cook County is offering Sap s Rising at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through March 21, at the River Trail Nature Center, 3120 Milwaukee Ave. in Northbrook. Walk in the sugar maple forest to learn about the sweet process of maple syrup making. All participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing. Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton has received the Cream of the CROP award. The Wheaton church ranked in the top 50 in the United States for donations to the CROP Hunger Walk in 2020, at more than $8,000.

Taxpayers anticipated to save $9M with COD board refunding of bonds
Updated 3/4/2021 4:41 PM The College of DuPage Board of Trustees at its Feb. 18 meeting unanimously approved the issuance of approximately $33.7 million in General Obligation Refunding Bonds, which will yield property tax savings for Community College District 502 taxpayers of approximately $9 million. We are very pleased to take this opportunity to exercise fiscal responsibility and save our taxpayers money, said Board Chairman Christine Fenne.
The bonds, issued in 2011 to finance capital projects including building renovations, carried interest rates ranging from 4 percent to 5.25 percent. Through the refunding, the remaining principal balance will be paid off in 2031. ....
