College of DuPage announces $10.2 million in federal funding for fall student grants

To help students in their pursuit of higher education during these challenging times, College of DuPage announces more than $10.2 million in grants is available for fall 2021 from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.
As defined in the legislation, the CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need. The college will begin distributing funds as early as May.
 
After this first distribution, COD will open an online application by June 1 allowing eligible students to secure emergency support for educational and emergency expenses. These funds will serve as a relief for those who want to start or continue their education at COD but have financial gaps. ....

Taxpayers anticipated to save $9M with COD board refunding of bonds

The College of DuPage Board of Trustees at its Feb. 18 meeting unanimously approved the issuance of approximately $33.7 million in General Obligation Refunding Bonds, which will yield property tax savings for Community College District 502 taxpayers of approximately $9 million.
We are very pleased to take this opportunity to exercise fiscal responsibility and save our taxpayers money, said Board Chairman Christine Fenne.
 
The bonds, issued in 2011 to finance capital projects including building renovations, carried interest rates ranging from 4 percent to 5.25 percent. Through the refunding, the remaining principal balance will be paid off in 2031. ....
