Farming For Health reports to Council

Group Civic Recognition Award embodies spirit of community

As befits something that won the Civic Recognition Award in the Group Category, Farming for Health is a real group effort, with people from across the region and from across the ag community in the region getting together for the common goal of farming to raise money for local healthcare. To date, the project has raised nearly $1.5 million, the first million to be used for a new hospital, and money that follows being used for equipment to keep improving health care in the area.
Larry Hilworth, who co-chairs Farming for Health with Al Mitchell, said that this recognition is for everyone who has worked hard over the past eight years to raise that money. The beginning of the project was when Hilworth was with Maple Farm Equipment, and the project has continued since, even as many names have changed through the years. ....

The Parkland Racing Association requested tax and lease forgiveness from Yorkton city council. Mayor Mitch Hippsley states the council decided to defer the payments instead. Also last night, Council approved a water and sewer rate increase, and named the Civic Recognition Award winners: Jason Boyda was the adult award winner, Katelyn Anderson won the youth category, and the Farming for Health organization took home the group honors. ....

Civic Recognition Award recipients announced


In making the announcement Jessica Matsalla City Clerk, with the City provided a brief bio on the recipients.
Jason Boyda, a teacher at Yorkdale school, has been a resident of Yorkton for the past 11 years, and has been “all-in” with the community since he moved here. He is a dedicated coach for sports (for all levels), mainly football and basketball. Jason is known to go the extra mile to run extra practices, and additional training to help any athlete who desires to improve, and will do what is in his power to help them excel.
Jason also provides opportunities to all ages of athletes that may not be otherwise offered, such as taking teams to out of city and even across the border for tournaments or camps. He not only coaches, but Administratively is involved in fundraising, organizing events, jamborees, inter-league and inter-provincial play, and cross border play. His passion for football and nurturing & developing youth, and for his involvement in the community is ....

The Health Foundation Of East Central Saskatchewan Received Over 100-Thousand Dollars

The Farming for Health committee has donated nearly 108-thousand dollars to the Heath Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan.
Committee co-chair Larry Hilworth says the harvest turned out pretty well, in spite of the drought.
The money will be used to purchase a number of pieces of medical equipment for hospitals in the east central region.
In total, Farming for Health has raised nearly 1.5 million dollars for our local health care.
