WILLIAMSPORT – A Lycoming County woman has been charged after her then 8-month-old daughter nearly died from a drug overdose in February.
State police Friday charged Alexandria Victoria Martinez, 31, with endangering the welfare of children and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Toxicology test results showed the infant had methamphetamine, fentanyl and hydrocodone in her system when hospitalized Feb. 16 and her condition was near-fatal, the arrest affidavit states.
Emergency personnel was dispatched to the trailer home on Back Street in Upper Fairfield Twp. east of Loyalsockville after Martinez called 911 saying the baby was unresponsive, police said. ....

Mother, daughter killed in head-on crash in Lycoming County

RALSTON – The Lycoming County coroner has released the identity of the mother and daughter who were killed Tuesday in a head-on collision involving two pickup trucks on Route 14 north of Ralston.
Elizabeth Morgan, 89, and her daughter Beverly Seeley, 70, both of Canton, were pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:10 p.m. accident, Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. said Wednesday.
State police have yet to release any details about the accident that reportedly occurred when one of the trucks crossed into the opposite lane of traffic in the northern part of the county. ....

A year has passed since the first life was claimed in Lycoming County due to complications from COVID-19, officials at a county interfaith service said.
Thursday through Sunday marked the somber anniversary and folks gathered on the front lawn of UPMC Williamsport Regional Medical Center Sunday to remember and find reason for hope.
“It is the compassion and faith of the community that makes us strong,” said Patti Jackson-Gehris, UPMC vice president of Strategy and Business Development, as the gentle breezes basked the small gathering of pastors and members of the community.

PENNSDALE – One man is dead and a female is wounded in what state police are calling an attempted homicide-suicide in Lycoming County.
The incident that resulted in the death of Devin Joseph Brelsford, 34, occurred about 11:15 p.m. Saturday along Auchmuty Road in the Pennsdale area. Police gave this account of what occurred:
Brelsford arrived at a campfire and began arguing with the 34-year-old woman whose name was not released. Witnesses said he appeared to be intoxicated because he was slurring his words and stumbling about. ....

City police on Tuesday morning confirmed a shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. Monday in Flanigan Park at the corner of Little League Boulevard and Walnut Street.
Police said in a statement Tuesday that they were able to recover evidence at the scene and are looking for witnesses. A short time after the investigation began, police responded to a call at UPMC Susquehanna’s Williamsport Regional Medical Center, where a young man was being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. The statement from police said the wound was not life-threatening. The victim was released after being treated.
“This incident does not appear to be random,” the statement from police said. “A follow-up investigation, in this case, is currently being conducted by the Williamsport Bureau of Police Criminal Investigation Unit.” ....
