Talafhah sentenced to 60 days | News, Sports, Jobs

A sobbing and pleading Athens woman was sentenced to 60 days in jail Wednesday by a Washington County Common Pleas Court judge.
Rhonda Talafhah, 54, of 6800 Baker Road, Lot 37, pleaded guilty March 2 to one count of aggravated possession of drugs and one count of possession of heroin, both fifth-degree felonies.
After Judge Mark Kerenyi handed down the sentence, which included three years of community control, Talafhah asked him to reconsider.
During the sentencing, the judge said the thing that makes these drug charges more serious is that she took the drugs into the Washington County Jail.
“The court considers that a very serious problem,” he said. ....

One-half of a duo in a joint case of sex crimes upon a minor was sentenced to prison Thursday in Washington County Common Pleas Court.
Lyrisha Marie Seevers, 23, of 276 Ridgewood Drive, Apt. G, Marietta, was initially indicted with rape, a first-degree felony; complicity in the commission of an offense, also a first-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.
Co-defendant Ryan William Seevers, Lyrisha’s 24-year-old husband of 129 Shook Road, Marietta, was also indicted on the same charges in November of 2020. ....
