The former Marietta Middle School basketball coach accused of rape and unlawful sexual conduct with minors was granted a personal recognizance bond in Washington County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.
Crystal Burke, 41, of 6625 State Route 60, Lowell, faces nine felony counts in the case of four alleged minor victims.
“I think I’ve added correctly, the longest prison term you face if you’re convicted of everything and the court running the (sentences) consecutively is 56.5 years,” explained Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi in arraignment Thursday.

Two weeks to the day from the court declaration of blight and public nuisance, 115-117 Gilman Ave. still loomed in the overcast background of Harmar Elementary play Monday.
“We talk about that place being haunted and if there’s a bad guy there or something,” said Reagan Slaubaugh, 8, of Marietta, as she kicked a soccer ball with fellow second-grade students in the grass of the primary school.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Marietta will hold a car wash event that is free for veterans on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
VFW Post 5108 is located at 319 Pike Street in Marietta. The car wash is also available to the general public. Those who are not veterans are asked to contribute cash donations that will go directly to the VFW and The American Legion.
“I had a member of the community approach me, and he’s with a program with drug court,” said Robert Fitzgerald, the executive director for the Washington County Veterans Service Commission. “He did a year program where he’s been sober, and part of his graduation is doing a community project, and he wanted to support veterans.”

One-third of a set of defendants in a methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking case from last summer is headed to more than a decade of prison service.
“He’s doing an additional two years in Pennsylvania after he gets out for violating terms of his last prison release,” said Lt. Josh Staats, of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and commander of the joint Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force. “His criminal record is pretty lengthy, not only with drugs but also firearms.”
