Mysore/Mysuru: Ahead of
Mahashivarathri festival tomorrow (Mar.11), all Shiva temples in city are being spruced up. The festival is celebrated in honour of Lord Shiva by chanting of prayers, fasting and meditation, Jaagaran (an all night vigil) and pujas.
All temples in the Palace premises were cleaned today. Special pujas will be performed at the famed Trineshwaraswamy temple in the Palace premises. A day before the festival, the Chinnada Kolaga (Golden Mask) was brought from the District Treasury in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to Trineshwaraswamy temple under tight Police security.
The Golden Mask was handed over to temple priest M.S. Santhanam. The Kolaga, which was donated by the erstwhile Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar to the temple in 1954 following the birth of his son Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, weighs 11-kg and is 2 ½ ft. in height. The associated jewels too were handed over to temple authorities.
Hundreds of supporters of candidates occupy Valmiki Road as counting begins
Mysore/Mysuru: The counting of votes for 23 Gram Panchayats (GP) in Mysuru taluk began at Maharani Commerce and Management College for Women on Valmiki Road in Paduvarahalli (Vinayakanagar) here this morning amidst tight Police security.
The counting began at 8 am at all the 58 tables arranged in 4 rooms at the centre. The candidates, their agents, counting officers and other deployed staff were allowed inside the centre from 7 am with all necessary checks and in accordance with
COVID-19 protocol such as thermal screening, mandatory wearing of face mask and maintenance of physical distancing. Hand sanitiser dispensers were placed at several points inside the centre.
Mysore/Mysuru: With the counting of votes for
GP elections to take place at Maharani’s College of Commerce and Management for Women on Valmiki Road in Paduvarahalli (Vinayakanagar) tomorrow, City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta has ordered traffic diversion around the centre from 6 am to 10 pm tomorrow (Dec.30).
Accordingly, movement of vehicles of all types has been banned on the stretch of Valmiki Road from Hunsur Road Junction till Kalidasa Road Junction.Similarly, movement of vehicles of all types has been banned on the stretch of Adipampa Road from Mathrumandali Circle to Valmiki Road Junction.
Movement of vehicles has been allowed one way (East to West) on the stretch of Kalidasa Road from Valmiki Road Junction to Mathrumandali Circle, while movement of all types of vehicles on this stretch of the road has been banned from West to East direction.
Mysore/Mysuru: With the counting of votes polled in the
Gram Panchayat (GP) elections to take place tomorrow (Dec.30), the district administration has made all preparations for smooth counting.
The counting will begin at 8 am and the results are expected by evening. There are over 11,000 candidates in fray and their fate will be decided tomorrow.
The polls for 250 GPs of the district were held in two phases on Dec. 22 and Dec. 27.
The counting of votes in respect of Mysuru Taluk GPs will take place at Maharani’s College of Commerce and Management for Women on Valmiki Road in Vinayakanagar. The counting will take place in five rooms with 192 personnel engaged for the purpose. Mysuru taluk has 23 GPs.
