A PWD Assistant Executive Engineer, he was deployed on duty at Periyapatna Periyapatna: An Assistant Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD), who was the polling officer for N. Shettahalli Gram Panchayat, died of heart attack even as the counting had begun at Pushpa Convent here this morning. The deceased is Boregowda (55), who was working as PWD Assistant Executive Engineer at Periyapatna. A native of K.R. Pet taluk in Mandya district, Boregowda was residing at Kushalnagar and travel to Periyapatna daily. Boregowda, who reported for counting duty at Pushpa Convent, the counting centre for Periyapatna GPs, developed severe chest pain. He was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital, where he was given first-aid. Unfortunately, he breathed his last midway while being rushed to a hospital in Mysuru. ....
Results declared early in Bidar where EVMs were deployed Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA As the gram panchayat results in many places were yet to be declared since counting of ballot papers was in progress, in Bidar district where the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) had been deployed, counting of votes was completed in less than six hours. Counting began around 8.45 a.m. and was over by around 2.30 pm, and the results of all 178 gram panchayats had been declared. Incidentally, Bidar was the only district in the State where EVMs had been deployed. As many as 1,253 EVMs had been used in the elections. ....
Mysore/Mysuru: With the counting of votes polled in the Gram Panchayat (GP) elections to take place tomorrow (Dec.30), the district administration has made all preparations for smooth counting. The counting will begin at 8 am and the results are expected by evening. There are over 11,000 candidates in fray and their fate will be decided tomorrow. The polls for 250 GPs of the district were held in two phases on Dec. 22 and Dec. 27. The counting of votes in respect of Mysuru Taluk GPs will take place at Maharani’s College of Commerce and Management for Women on Valmiki Road in Vinayakanagar. The counting will take place in five rooms with 192 personnel engaged for the purpose. Mysuru taluk has 23 GPs. ....
